2012 Touring Elite with Roku XS, Usb and Bluetooth remote

    Hello,

I'm new here and I really love all the great info.

I installed my Roku XS, Streaming player, in my 2012 Touring Elite and it works pretty good.

It has a Usb port so that I can put my movies (a lot of movies if you have a good sized Drive) onto my Thumb drive, stick it in the Roku and play them in the Odyssey. This is the top of the line, $99, XS, 1080p, Bluetooth remote, wireless or wired Ethernet, HDMI and RCA output and of course the usb port to play movies, music and photo's.

The only downside is that it takes the unit one minute to boot up, after the vehicle is started. (Its plugged onto the ac outlet, no battery powered option) The blutooth remote works anywhere in the van. You can even play Angry Birds on it, using the remote.

it fits in the palm of your hand. See image below.

My plan changed. I just found this Amazon.com: Satechi BT MediaRemote Bluetooth Multi-Media Remote Control for iPhone, iPad & iMac, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, MacBook, and Mac Mini: MP3 Players & Accessories for my iPad 2. Finally, a great bluetooth remote to control it.

I'm going to hook it up as soon as I receive the remote.

I'm thinking about adding the Roku in the same vehicle you have. Thanks for mentioning the the 1-minute boot up time. Did you try using the Roku app for a smartphone instead of the regular bluetooth remote?

I don't understand your 2nd post about the BT remote you found for your iPad 2. Did you give up on using the Roku in the Odyssey now?

I just remembered using the Roku Smartphone app requires the Roku and the phone to be on the same network. I assume you didn't install a wireless network in your vehicle so my question is probably not applicable. I'm looking into installing a travel router along with the Roku to enable the smartphone app capability. I'm checking out all my options that I can think of before taking the plunge. Any guidance from your experience would be helpful.

    Thanks.

Can't wait for your final findings. I've been looking for a DVD RES alternative since my kids are both already Wifi Laptop/Bluetooth/Iphone & Ipad saavy.

I am thinking of the following setup:
    Hardware:
    1. AppleTV
    2. Airport Express

    Software:
    3. Plex Server running on my Mac Pro (in my house)
    4. Plex Clients running on my (iPhone, iPod, iPad, Macbook)

    DLE
