USB Flash Drive "Unable to Connect"

Someone stole the old iPod I've used in my van for the last year or so...

I bought a 64gb PNY Memory Master stick to replace it. It's formatted in FAT32. The error I get is unable to connect.

I have a 1gb USB stick I got at a trade show. It works fine.

Is 64gb too big? I can't find anyone reporting success with 64gb. And in reality, this stick reports it has 65.xx GB of space.

I'm on a Mac running OS X Lion. The 64gb drive works fine on multiple computers.

I was thinking of trying to partition the disk and just not use some of it, but I also find no references on the max size. Maybe I'll just look for a used iPod?

    Any ideas?

I couldn't get a 64GB Kingston DT101 G2 USB flash drive to work with the Odyssey. A Patriot Rage 32GB works, although I just got it, so I don't have a lot of experience with it. I didn't wait for the Odyssey to finish counting up the number of songs on the USB drive before turning off the key. I'm not sure what it was doing during that time, because I was able to play songs. The format is FAT32. I copied the 24GB of folders and files from "My Music" folder in Windows 7 to the 32GB USB stick. The files are mostly .MP3.

Kingston DT101 G2 8GB and 16GB USB flash drives formatted for FAT32 also work.

    I have a 2013 Honda Odyssey EX.

I'm pretty sure the 64GB USB stick said it was formatted for FAT32 when I got it. I also tried NTFS and exFAT, and those were "UNSUPPORTED" in the Odyssey, although they worked on Windows 7.

Thanks for the data. I'll try a 32gb stick. I'm sure I read somewhere only FAT32 will work. Given that technology is such a selling feature on these vans, you would think Honda would offer some spex.

I may still look for a used iPod. It's hard to beat the iPod interface. The USB interface is not nearly as rich. Maybe someday they will make flash modules you can hook to a computer to load audio and video on for the vehicle.

32GB definitely works. I think the system is 2.0 cause my 3.0 USB stick seemed to load slow. It took a while but once it read it all it worked fast.

If anyone finds a 64GB stick that works post here. I would really like to have a 64GB stick. I don't see why it would support 32GB and not 64GB.

I gave up and bought an 80gb iPod Classic on eBay for $80. The iPod interface is much richer than the USB interface. Good to know the 32mb USB stick works.

Anyone try plugging in an iPhone 5?

I've been using a 64gb stick for the last 6 months and it's been working ok. It's a Kingston GT101G2 (Amazon.com: Kingston Digital DataTraveler 101 Generation 2 - 64 GB Flash Drive DT101G2/64GBZET: Computers & Accessories). The Odyssey wouldn't recognize it until I reformatted it using FAT32 (came factory formatted as exFAT) and Win7 would only allow formats of exFAT or NTFS for drives over 32gb, so I had to google for a utility that would let me accomplish this. The only drawback I've encountered is that it takes 5-10 minutes to scan the drive and allow the Audio menu to appear. Until it's done this, you're stuck listening to the audio list that it previously was on - although the next/prev track buttons on the radio work - but you can't jump out to another folder until the Audio menu pulls up. This happens every time we start the car. I would love to be able to create an index on the drive that it could quickly consume, but so far I haven't come across anything to indicate this is possible.
