2013 Touring Elite How to hide the HDMI cable.

The goal of this modification is to hide the HDMI cable so that its not exposed at all. I did not like having the black HDMI shooting out the side of the panel. So This is what I did.

Note: I dont have plans to hook up any gaming console or bluray. All the movies will come from an iphone or ipad.

1- 15ft flat HDMI cable from partsexpress. $13
    1- HDMI apple adapter $40

There is a notch in the HDMI panel insert for a small screw driver. It pops right out.

Unplug the factory harness from the small panel. Very small tabs, just press them in and it separates easily.

Fish a coat hanger or wire puller

This is the route I ran the coat hanger. I used needle nose pliers the bend a small round loop at the end of the coat hanger.

Connect it up and test it out.

tuck it in and put the small panel back. HDMI hooked up and working but no more visible wires.

I ran the cable under the carpet through the spare tire opening and out the inside of the passenger seat carpet next to console then coiled the excess cable under the floor mat

Hope this helps someone with the same issue.

    Patrick

Nice work, did you try to avoid the heater core pipes or no?

Anyways, I wanted to do exactly what you did except I'd just put it cable under the floor mat not the carpet. But I had a strange feeling that as soon as I did that I would need to plug something else in

    thanks for the kudos!

I didnt have a problem interfearing with the heater core pipes.

The good news is, that small panel with the HDMI plug logo on it pops out in 2 seconds if you need to plug something else in.

I want to do the same thing with the USB charging plug in the rear drivers side compartment by the lift gate. I have a 15ft charging cable on the way.

Actually it was more of a heat concerns those tubes probably can get in the neighborhood of 200F.

You know I just packed our van for our return trip from the holidays and I might brave your modification.

    Nicely done once again!
