Hi,
I am new to this forum and love this forum. Its great information.
I just bought a used 2000 Honda Odyssey EX with Navigation. I love my MiniVan. Its great. It has about 60k miles but its smooth and we all love it. I bought it from a third party. The person from whom I bought was a very nice guy. He kept it very clean.
I have 2 questions.
1. I dont have the Radio code and Navigation Code. I asked the person from whom I bought the Van. He said he does not know it(may be he lost it). Is there any way, I can get the Radio Code and Navigation Code. Any help is appreciated.
2. The other question is that I got only one remote. I bought a new remote from ebay. This was a used remote which I bought it from a dealer on ebay. I need to program this remote for my car. Has anybody done this. I found the following instructions for Honda Pilot Remote. Does this work for Odyssey. Any help is appreciated

How to program your own remote on Honda Pilot
To program your own keyless entry remotes without going to the dealership, follow this procedure (works for Honda and Acura vehicles).
Get inside vehicle and close the doors then:
1. Disarm the system (unlock the doors)
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position
3. Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter
4. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position
5. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position
6. Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter
7. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position
8. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position
9. Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter
10. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position
11. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position
12. Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter
The power door locks will cycle to indicate programming mode. The status LED illuminates and/or chirps simultaneously for 1 second.
13. Press the "LOCK" button of each remote (one at a time) to store its digital code in system memory. The power door locks will cycle to confirm each entry. The status indicator LED illuminates and/or chirps simultaneously for 1 second. Perform the programming steps within 10 seconds for each remote or the programming mode will terminate. (A button on each remote control transmitter to be programmed must be pressed.)
To terminate the programming mode at any time, turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position, or leave the remote buttons untouched for more than 10 seconds

The cost of $ 30.00 a piece for the keys probably doesn't count the programming costs for the keys. Check on the cost to have all of you keys programmed.
You can always find cheaper key fobs (remotes) on eBay, like this one for $ 12.00 + $ 3.00 shipping.
It has the same FCC ID as mine. I have bought additional ones on eBay in the past and had no problems. You will be able to make all of your fobs work with the Pilot by programming the unit yourself. Here are the programming instructions.
Except where noted, time between steps should not exceed 4 seconds. You may push either the lock or unlock button. Use the same remote for steps 1-13.
Step 1: Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
Step 2: Push remote lock button
Step 3: Turn ignition switch off
Step 4: Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
Step 5: Push remote lock button
Step 6: Turn ignition switch off
Step 7: Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
Step 8: Push remote lock button
Step 9: Turn ignition switch off
Step 10: Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
Step 11: Push remote lock button
Step 12: Confirm that you hear the door locks move
Step 13: Within 8 seconds, press the 1st remote lock button
Step 14: Confirm that you hear the door locks move
Step 15: Within 8 seconds, press the 2nd remote lock button
Step 16: Confirm that you hear the door locks move
Step 17: Within 8 seconds, press the 3rd remote lock button
Step 18: Confirm that you hear the door locks move
Step 19: Turn ignition OFF, and remove key.
Step 20: Confirm that your keyless remotes now work.
Note: To program only one remote, skip steps 15-18. To program only two remotes, skip steps 17 and 18.
I added a third remote.
Here are the instructions from another thread.

Step 11: Push remote lock button
Step 12: Confirm that you hear the door locks move [I believe this should read that you hear the door lock cycle - this signifies that the system is in the programming mode - you need to program ALL your remotes, at this point ]
Step 13: Within 8 seconds, press the 1st remote lock button
Step 14: Confirm that you hear the door locks move [i.e., cycle lock / unlock]
Step 15: Within 8 seconds, press the 2nd remote lock button
Step 16: Confirm that you hear the door locks move [i.e., cycle lock / unlock]
Step 17: Within 8 seconds, press the 3rd remote lock button

I am not sure about the status LED. I keyed off the lock / unlock cycle.
Also, I didn't worry about pointing the remote as I agree with you that the transmitter is omnidirectional.
