Yokohama YK520 at Discount Tire

My 2002 Ody is ready for new tires. I've read that just about anything is better than the OEM Michelin Symmetry.

My local Discount Tire has a Yokohama YK520 - looks like a private label tire for them. The tread seems to be similar to the AVID series (but not exact).

Has anyone used this tire? Any experiences with it? The 225/60/16 site is 98T just like the OEM's.

I had a set of YK420s on my Maxima and loved them!!

Great grip, very quiet, and durable.

I have YK 420's on my Maxima for the last 65,000 and still going.
They are very good tires in my estimation. I am sure the 520's are very similar to the 420's.
Yoko's are good tires in general.

Just check the load ratings in the Ody size. A lot of tires will fit, not many rated 98T

Ok, after a quick road trip this weekend (200 miles) these YK520's seem to be very nice. Smoother ride than the OEM's, and quieter. The Wife Acceptance Factor of these is very high

For those interested, they are 225/60/16 98H and the tread pattern seems very close to the AVID TRZ.

They were $105 a tire at Discount Tire with a $25 rebate.

To revive a thread rather than create a new one...

I just got a set from Discount Tire as well. Put a quick 200 miles on them right after install and alignment. Great grip, a little quieter.

The Symmetrys still had some decent tread left after 50,000 miles, but my wife ran one flat and wore all the letters off the bottom half of the sidewall! It still took air and worked fine after I plugged it, but I did not want to tempt fate, so I replaced them all.

These Yokohamas rock. I've used Kleber (French), Michelin, BFG, Goodyear, Pirelli, Continental...and these tires are by far the best for Joe Consumer (me).

We're going on a road trip soon. Glad we got these YK520's.

I just put a set of the Yoko 520s on my Mazda this afternoon. The first thing I noticed is drastically reduced road noise, but I've only put about 20 miles on them so far.
