05'-07' EX/EXL Rim Width and Offset?

Please help me confirm the rim width and offset on an 05'-07' EX/EXL. I have been searching for a hour and my head hurts.

I know the rims are 16" and I think they are 7" wide with a 50mm offset. Please let me know. Most are stamped inside the rim... I don't feel like taking a wheel off tonight. I'm on the hunt for aftermarket rims.

You are correct as to the dimensions, but I think the offset is 55mm.

    I'm still confused. Are the OEM wheels 16 x 7, 7J or 7.5?

Is the offset 50mm or 55mm? Would 40mm work or is that too small? What the heck is an offset anyway?

I am looking for aftermarket 16" wheels to put my stock tires on since the person currently selling OEM rims can't be bothered to ship to Oregon.

You will save yourself a bunch of head aches if you stick with the OEM wheels. Hondas are hubcentric, so the center bore diameter is critical.

They sell "hubcentric rings" for aftermarket wheels to try to band aid this problem, but my expereince is that you can never get a hubcentric ring that fits precisely enough to avoid vibration problems.

If you can find another Honda or Acura wheel that fits, that would be a good choice as well. I ended up buying some Acura RSX wheels for our 2003 Ody and they work perfectly. They were very inexpensive and plentiful on Ebay.

You will have to do some homework to find out which Honda / Acura wheels might fit your van.

    Were those Acura wheels 16"?

I am learning more than I ever wanted to know about wheels here, but I still haven't figured out what the J stands for in 16x7J. Here is a pic of the inside of a 2006 EX rim:

Other numbers I have found: Wheel Size: 16x7J Bolt Pattern: 5x120 Hub: 64.1 Offset: 50+ Lug: 14x1.5

    CashStrapped,

The letter designation indicates the cross sectional profile of the bead seating area (flange) of the wheel.

For more information about wheels and tires than you'll probably ever need, check out this link:

This website also has a number of excellent write ups on virtually every other aspect of automotive technology.

    Enjoy!

    Keith

    P.S. The wheels removed from my '07 EXL are 16x7 50mm 64.1 5x120.

Thank you. So would my 07 LX be 7 ot 7J? Does the J matter that much?

    Found it, 2 pages later:

"J" is the most common profile identifier.

So most wheels would be J.

The rim profile is critical to the proper seating and retention of the tire bead. A mismatch between the tire and rim could result in unseating of the tire under load, with potentially catastrophic consequences.

That being said, I think that for practical purposes you can ignore the rim flange designation, since it is extremely unlikely you will find an otherwise suitable wheel fitment that will not have the correct rim flange. Virtually all modern passenger car wheels are type "J".

And yes, my wheels are also "J" profile.

    Keith

BTW, my new (less than 100 miles) take-off wheels, w/ Michelin LX4, TMPS sensors, and lug nuts, are available if you are interested. Looking for $1000.00 for the set.

If I had that kind of money I would have gotten an EX! Just looking for 4 wheels for $400 or less.

Considering a set of slightly used BMW rims for $300 locally.
