17.5 average on my last tank... pretty much ALL stop and go, VERY cold temp's here too.... so still , I think that is pretty decent.

Good advice except for the spark plug wires. Since 1999 Ody has coil packs right on the plug.

Mine gets about 21 in mixed driving. I've never seen better than 25 hiway. Not bad though for a 4300lbs hunk of metal and plastic!

Wife got 23 on the trip, almost all of it highway. I'm pleased with that. It doesn't look like too many people are getting the top end hwy mileage of 25. Now I'm curious to see what we get driving it around town...

I got 20.6, and then 18.5 on my last 2 tanks. My wife drives the Ody during the week so no telling... I also aired up the tires to 48 psi from 38, so that should help too I hope.

Have you recently taken life insurance on your wife?

Seriously, 48 psi is too high.

48PSI??? HOLY CRAP! If I would have put 48 in mine it would have fallen apart from the bouncing and jarring..Well fallen apart faster than it did

We've been running our tire at 40psi (not excessively high for such a heavy vehicle running on passenger-car tires) for the past four years without issue. Many new tires have a 51psi maximum pressure now as well.

That's maximum...so if you put 48psi in your van....In the summer.....when it gets hot..you are going to be WAY OVER 51psi max pressure

The sidewall clearly says 51psi max. I don't see where 48 is an issue.

I will monitor this as the weather warms up here.

I finally had all the little gizmos changed that set off the p1456 code. I have had this code for the cel on longer than not. finally got tired of it. Now the gas mileage is crappy than ever, I do have a heavy foot. This is an 01 ody with 181,000. usually get around 17-19 stop and go, and a good highway run around 24. now its 15 and 18. I am pretty update with changing everything.

Thanks for the link. I do like the check air pressure with each oil change at least, so I'll stay on top of it.

With the new 48 psi, last tank was 20.4, lots of stop and go.. seems the pressure increase really helped.

With that kind of pressue, I would think you would be wearing out the Middle/Center of the tire pretty fast.....Ever notice that"

I am guessing the mpg savings will be dwarfed by the cost of earlier replacement of tires. He just aired them up to 48, so it will not be noticeable yet, and by the time it is, it will be too late.

Read number #2 about safety. http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shop...nformation+FAQ Read # 5 about inflating tires to the number on the sidewall. Then go let some air out of your wife's tires.
