1. Low coolant level - the cause more than you'd think on cars without rear heat.
2. Bad thermostat
However, the rear hear heat puts a kink in the thinking. Sounds like the coolant isn't making it to the front heater core which could be a bad heater switch or circuit to open the flow to the heater core. You may check the coolant hose going into the heater core at the firewall to see if it's hot.
But a faulty front heater valve is a fairly common occurrence around here. Mostly caused by some yahoo changing out the low corrosion long life coolant early and using plain regular coolant. The system burping procedure is Ody dual heater specific as well. So folks, unless you are going to use the right coolant and do the whole shebang exactly to spec, it's best to leave it alone. And make sure your corner mechanic leaves it alone as well. Top only with Honda branded premix.
