I'm out of town with no spare. Can a dealer cut a key for me with my vin #? I need access in morning first thing and right now they are closed. Thanks for any help. Time to tie a key underneath somewhere.

I would think they would be able to do that or you can call a locksmith to pick the lock to open the van.
I was hoping to use a locksmith as plan b.Originally posted by Kscha41

Take the vin along proof of ownership to the dealer, and the parts department should and be able to cut key!

I'm such a moron. I have AAA. First time I've ever used it, but I did just get it through work. Jeez I'm an idiot.
im suprised that no one mentioned the old urban legend about calling home on a cell phone where the other key fob would be and having that person hold it near the cell phone and toggle the unlock button to get the doors to unlock.
glad AAA was able to help.

I suppose that key will get you in the van but that copy will not start the engine. There is a chip in the key that has code and if the ignition system does not read a correct code it will not start. A dealer key is about $25.Originally posted by Speedlimit

If you loose all keys, a complete reprograming is necessary. So if you bought used or have already lost other keys and are down to one, get one made at a dealer ASAP!.
.. may let you start the van but it may not get released from the ignition switch due to missing chip. A friend who visited Honda dealership last week said that a lady there was yelling at the service ppl for charging her $200 - $300 for a replacement ignition because she couldnt get the $2 dup key out of the ignition.
01 Ody LX, Emerald Pearl 94.5K miles, Cargo tray, Trans oil changed 3X, Michelin Radial X's, changed to plat. spark plugs @ 68K miles, replaced IACV @ 74K, TRANNY replaced @ 78.5 miles under warranty including front eng mount and 4 whl alignment - also replaced the timing belt, waterpump & tensioner
I'm not sure that's true. AFAK, the vehicle will not start without a chip key. But you can use a non chip key to unlock the doors to get to a key you have inside. It was once popular here to hide the valet key inside the van. Then a cut key could be hidden outside safer. This is very popular with surfers and other water sports enthusiasts.
