2002 LX now has around 12K miles. Last week I drove it and it sounded a little funny. The change in sound was overnight. Most noticable at low speeds (probably because wind noise/engine noise masks it). I didn't say anything until my wife asked if I heard it, because she and the kids noticed it. The sound is hard to describe, but is is engine rev dependent not vehicle speed dependant. It sounds pneumatic (air pump/air compressor) not mechanical. It sounds kind of like a pneumatic tool at low rpm but at a low pitch. I did a search and found some complaints about resonator noise/backpressure issues, but no one described the noise in what I read. I'm taking it to the dealer to see what they say. Appologies for the vague description of the sound. Does anyone have any experience with strange noises?
When accelerating from low speed or stop, I sometime notice a sound similar to a turbine running. Very low volume. There is no turbo in that engine, is there? LOL

What you describe sounds like the resonator/muffler sound I hear...low pitched, low frequency, RPM (1,700-1,900) dependant 'buzz' that for me waxes and wanes over time. At its worse sounds like a fairly loud low RPM turbine, louder with the windows down, going up a grade at low speed and notable at the end of the exhaust pipe when you rev the engine as a 'raspy' sound.
