What it's Worth Just sold on eBay Motors: $3,598-$5,954 Kelley Blue Book Value: $5,115-$5,565
I appreciate the info but Fair Market Value is what I go off KBB and Ebay motors's is just an opinion. The most expensive Odyssey 1997 in my area is going for 3800 but it has the 4 buckets and I need the bench seat. 5400 just seems too much when no other car is priced in the same range. A seller can ask for anything doesn't mean they will get it.
Agree. miles don't really matter when these vans are maintained in the smallest amount. (this is my opinion) offer the owner what you think is fair for you after a good look and a test drive. Also, the 98s are valued higher not just because of the year but because its the only year of this body style that came with vtec(+10hp +10tq) and factory tinted windows. the other differences are small.

I may be on the other side of the country, and this one may need a little work, but it's listed for $3000 less, and says "Or Best Offer".
Personally, I think $5400 is WAY too high. they run between $2000 and $3000 here in Tennessee.
Seriously? Looks at the pics for both and there is no comparison. That '96 looks like a POS while the 1998 looks like a babied cream puff. Also, the one in TN does not mention how many miles are on it. Add to the fact that everything in CA is more expensive and I can easily see at least $2000 difference, but that is just me. Yes, the $5400 is probably too much, but if the seller has not been getting any action he may be ready to negotiate. The better way to look at it for your local market is what else are people selling for $5000. If it is attractive compared to everything else for sale then it may be priced right.
If you are capable go with cash in hand and offer what you are willing to pay, even if it is $4000. You just never know, but your feet are your most powerful negotiating tool. If the seller is willing to watch you drive away then you know where he stands. Even if you drive around the block and go back, he never knows if it will be the last he sees of you when you leave.

Pkrface so I didn't offer 4000 but I did offer him 3800. He was very polite and declined. I asked him to let me know what he ended up selling it for. Today he texted me and said he sold it for 4500. I made an offer on this one for 2200 he's thinking about it. I will keep you guys updated.

1997 Honda odyssey v4 clean tittle fits 8, MUST SALE TODAY
Thanks for the market info from Tennessee. Seems like the CA market is very similar
Hahahaha... V4....
I took my time and searched for about a year. I was "outbid" on two. In the end, I found a 1995 LX (the only OBD-1) with 170,xxx miles and original floor mats. The previous owner was very up front and honest. It had a tiny amount of hail damage, needed a front AC expansion valve, and had HORRIBLE tires. He even told me that it had a brake light out. I drove about 175 miles to get it, sight unseen, only pics, and took $1600 cash with me. I drove it home, and had no problems.
At least "V4" is closer to the truth than, "fits 8".
