2008 ody ex with 67,000 other than normal maint, and ps pump and 3 sets of micelin tires -yes 3 sets we are waiting for a descion from michelin if we will get a refund, all work done at our honda dealer and tires purchased thru dealer. Gas mileage is alot lower then our 99 lx but ride is better. Your price for your ody 145,000 miles for 11,500 is way to much.
My 06 EX-L RES has been trouble free so far with 76k miles.
Except the driver side sliding door pop - actuator, which the dealer never seems to "reproduce" when brought in under warranty. When was the last time the dealer actually reproduced anything issue???
I also had the brake noise TSB checked didn't find anything so no I have the brake groan at low speed when turning once in a while. More annoying than issue.
Recently I had the transmission firmware flashed to raise the RPM when ECO mode kicked in to reduce the "shudder" issue.
I'm looking for a new car now and the wife specifically said..."NO HONDA" after her last Accord transmission gave out and now some minor issue with the Van...she's done with Honda haha!

My '08 EX-L(RES) with 61k miles has had lots of problems:
3 tranmission reflashes for the judder
All four shocks replaced
Front struts replaced
Power steering pump failed
Driver side rear sliding door stopped working
Both CV joints replaced
Power locks stopped working
Master cylinder failed
Constant transmission whine
Transmission hunts for right gear (VCM related?)
+ a number of other annoyances that we live with
In my view that's a poor track record for a van touted as reliable, superior product compared to its competition.
It's not a bad vehicle when it doesn't have a problem but it's been in the shop far too frequently for my liking. This is my 6th Honda purchase and it will be my last.

lol. Too true!
I'm dissapointed with Honda on this one. My '81 Civic, '91 Civic Si and '02 SiR were excellent cars. Our '00 Civic and the '08 Ody have been very poor.
I'm an automotive engineer so I may be picky. I would give the Honda Odyssey a letter grade "B" saying it is an above average, fairly reliable and very comfortable van with some problems. Mine's a 2006 EX-L with 65K miles, bought it new in Jan 2006. Only issues were:
1) Year 2 - P-steering reservoir replaced under warranty. Noisy.
2) Year 2 - Rattle in exhaust system. May have been a bad exhaust shield at the drive shaft or the exhaust bracket itself, next to the heat shield. Dealer fixed by replacing the shield and while replacing broke the head off the exhaust bracket mounting bolt, probably trying to tighten it. I did not complain as there was no more rattle noise.
3) Year 3- Battery failed. Just made it under warranty.
4) Year 5- Third battery. This one I had to pay for.
5) Year 6- Starter failed. Heavily rusted, funny that the rest of the van looks brand new no other rust around or underneath. (first time I have ever replaced a starter on a car less than 10 years old). Replaced myself as it is easy to do and only a $120 part.
Other than that, just tires every 30k miles, oil changes twice a year, all brakes and rotors replaced at 45k and I'm on my second set of wipers. Nothing else besides filling it up with gas.
In the past I've owned GMs (grade of "C"), Chrysler (grade of "D-") which were not as reliable as the Odyssey, but that is not saying much. I also have a 2003 Subaru Outback without a single issue in 10 years, just routine service as mentioned above. The Subaru I would grade "A".

Other than the crappy PAX tires, I have had almost no (big or little) problems with our 06 Touring. I even got over 90k miles on brakes. We now have 94k miles and just a few thousand left on our HondaCare warranty. I am sure the day after this expires the problems with start coming.
Other than a few suburban battle scars, it cleans up really well. Overall all I am pleased with the vehicle.

Well just to chime in 07 ODY Touring, 61K miles
PAX Tires, just stupid, but wife wanted the other Touring options. I knew what I was getting into. Running 17" Pilot wheels now.
On the Touring the battery was woefully undersized, from day one. About 2 years in I replaced it with an Interstate MPT24F. My wife would come home from the store leave the key on and the baby/kids watching a video while unloading the car. 15 minutes and dead battery. Never had a new car that had to jump start so many times.
Brakes, undersized in my opinion. Causes warped rotors, causes shimmy/shudder feeling when braking. Have yet to cause an accident. I live in a rural area and drive and gravel roads. I think the extra dust and dirt have increased wear on the sliding door components. Have had a couple of warranty/Honda extended care work orders on the sliding doors.
Again, gravel roads, but had to have the front lower control arms replaced. Honda Care exetended warranty so it didn't cost me, but felt this repair at 50k miles a little premature.
Although I am quite capable of changing the oil, with the original warranty and the Honda Care extended warranty, I take it to the dealer for oil changes and get all the recall work done. No issue with Power steering but that may have been tended to by the dealer. When the service advisor comes out with a list of any problems, if it isn't covered, then I usually fix it myself. No I will not pay $50 to replace the cabin air filter or the windshield wipers. I can get the filter at NAPA for $15 (which in itself is a rip off) and do it in five minutes. NO I WILL NOT PAY $220 to turn those under engineered front rotors. I could replace the rotors in an hour for $160 in parts. But I have a set of '10 Pilot rotors, pads and calipers ready for install this weekend that should solve the problem for longer than 5K miles.
So overall it has been fairly reliable. Ok but lets compare to my 2005 Ford F150. Changed oil and fluids. Period. A total of two recall issues, one in the last year that needs to be done. The truck has 99K miles. Zero malfunction or unscheduled service issue. So that makes the Ody more in the B grade range as mentioned above. The F150 gets an A
Bump for more feedback.

Honda hood deflector, mud guards, Zymöl wax, Honda ATF cooler, Amsoil EaO20 oil filter, Amsoil synthetic 5W20, Amsoil ATF 6/2011, Krown rustproofing, block heater (gets cc...cold in Canada in winter!)
2005 EX. No problems whatsoever @ 95,000 miles and I bought it new. Tires, new batteries every 3 years or so as a precaution since I live in Phoenix.
I recently had a leaky PS res replaced - cheap as I recall.
New pads around 20,000 miles under warranty. No problems since with brakes.
I think I wasted the money on buying the Honda Extended Warranty.

I have had my 07 touring for a year now. We are the 2nd owner. CV joint was making noise. Dealer replaced since we had only owned it 2 weeks.. Van has 103K. Had the transmission flushed at dealer along with regular oil change. We did ditch the PAX for MDX wheels. Ohter than that, it's been great!
In addition to my post above, we have recently had a small engine fire. The coil pack on the front of the block on the passenger side (No.6?) is melted, the connecting wire insulation is gone, the dipstick handle, plastic engine cover and insulation on the hood is burnt. The van, of course, is no longer under warranty. Yippeee!!
Although it's an easy DIY fix to replace the plugs and the coil packs I'm taking it in to the dealership to see if they can find a root cause.
Not good. It's another black mark on this van. (a little dark humor for you...)
