Where Can I buy control arm bushings is 2000lbs enough clamping??

I have an '06 exl and want to refresh the suspension. I cant find the control arm bushings at any napa, advance, or carquest...

    Where are people buying these?

Also I plan an using my Rockwell Jawhorse to try to press the bushings. It's said to be able to exert about a ton of clamping pressure. Is that enough?

    Thanks in advance!

Buy the whole control arm that already has bushing and balljoint.

I'd rather find a source for the bushings at decent price if possible. If i can get the set for both arms at the cost of 1 control arm or less it's worth it to me.

In most cars, by the time the bushing is cracked/worn, the balljoint is gone too.
This happens around 80K-100K in most cars.

Back in the old days, car mfg's made separate bushings and ball joints and these could be replaced separately.
But later they found that it was a waste of time doing things in piecemeal.
So for the most part, most mfg's sell the whole control arm to be done with.

    Take 51350-SHJ-A03 as an example:

Honda is $200, this should last another 100K miles.

Mevotech is $120, but you get what you pay for:

The bottom line is: don't be penny-wise but pound-foolish. Buy Honda control arm.

Where can you buy the Honda arm for $200? My local dealer will not come off list @ $332. @ Majestic by the time you add S&H it is about $250 per side.

Firstly I appreciate the conversation and attempts to inform with what I'm sure are good intentions.

I don't think the mfg/dealership's decision in this case considers the same rationale as I do. My guess would be that they can do a control arm refresh in 1/3 the time (or whatever) thereby making 3x as much $/hr. No brainer.

Some will say that my time is money and I'd agree. But I'd also say that the conversion rate differs person by person. I have more time than money and my conversion rate tells me that it's worth it to replace the bushings.

When I refreshed the suspension on my a4 last year i replaced EIGHT control arms and had to take out the strut towers to do so. I'm thinking that taking out the control arm and swapping out these bushing will be a DREAM compared to that. Plus I'll still be using the Honda control arms.

If a bushing or ball goes out in another 5/4/3? years I'm out what? another $20 and an hour/hour and a half of my time?

    FYI,

    - The balljoint is an integral part of the control arm, i.e., not sold separately, so if the balljoint goes, you need a new control arm, $209:
    51350-SHJ-A03 - Honda ARM, R. FR. (LOWER)

    - The bushing business: The aftermarket people make them for 2nd Gen Ody but not 3rd Gen Ody. Here is info on 2nd Gen Ody:

I didn't buy or investigate further but it's something I found while searching for the bushing. Mine still have the cracked old bushing.

    amati5,

Interesting link, I did not know that Honda still sells bushing(s) and Maybe ball joint as separate items.
The problem is: I can only find that at the website you linked:

Factory Toyota Parts, Honda Parts, Nissan Parts, Lexus Parts, Infiniti Parts, Acura Parts At Wholesale Prices - Dealer Direct Parts

I cannot find these items at other Honda vendor websites.

If anyone knows the PNs for all three parts #5, #6, and #7, please post the PNs:

Yup, that was the only place I found. But if you use the part number they have it on there and search, I came up with another place:

    51393-SHJ-A01 - Honda *51350-SHJ-A01

This is great and if I can find the other bushing I'm definitely game for a writeup! The ball joint is pretty easy to find. Thanks!

I wonder if energy suspension sells bushings that would fit.

Try searching the site for a source of LCA bushings. IIRC there is at least one thread by someone who replaced the bushings in his existing control arms.
