what's up w/ dealership pricing, is it complete fleecing?

I called my local dealership pricing for the lower CA's but had to leave a message.

I then called a less local dealership and got a price of about $330 but they were back ordered.

Later that day I went in to my my local dealership to get some tranny fluid for a drain&fill. I asked him about pricing for the lower CAs and he quoted me a price of over $500/pc. When I told him i talked to another dealership 30 mins away and they said $330ish, he quickly told me that he could sell them to me for that price too.

I wanted to get because I had a clunk and a wobble. I didn't want my wife driving w/ the wobble so I changed it right away with an aftermarket part that I got for about $230/ea.

I now know that majestic has the OE piece for the same price...

Well, yeah Majestic is like that. I discoverd the same thing about a year ago when trying to obtain some parts fo our 2001 Accord V-6. They were cheaper than the aftermarket stuff I was finding.

You are in Des Moines, small town, the local Honda dealer knows there is no competition so they jack up the prices.
I am in Omaha NE, medium town with 3 dealerships that charge 150% the price you find on Majestic Honda website! So same issue for me.

For odds/ends cheap parts (fluids and O-rings), I use my local dealer because the cost difference (compared with online when you pay shipping charge) is not that much.

However, when it comes to major parts (Lower Control Arms etc.), order them online and it is cheaper. A few dealers that I use. The dealer in Lisle IL (Chicago suburb) can get the part to you in Des Moines quickly.
