I bought a used 2006 Odyssey EXL with no navi or RES just the stock stereo headunit with 6CD changer and 7 speakers. I'm looking to replace the head unit with double din head unit with navigation and bluetooth (handsfree and streaming). Any suggestions for an inexpensive unit (less than $700?)? Not looking for all the bells and whistles, but one that will work reliably. Thanks is advance!
I would steer clear of HUs with built-in navigation. The maps get out of date very quick, which require yearly tithings to update them, and then the updates are very old. Recommend you stick to head units that integrate with your smartphone. Waze will give you the best navigation and has HU integration with several Sony, Alpine, Pioneer, and Parrot products.
I really wanted the DNX891, but Garmin doesn't offer a lifetime map update subscription to their navigation. They just stop updating head unit maps after a few years. The hardware must be too custom.
Can you post some pics of your install? I'd be interested to see it.
You have a 2006 EX-L with 7 speakers? Does that include a subwoofer? I had been told the Premium Audio Package with amp and subwoofer was available only for the Touring model in 2005-2007 and that the EX-L only comes with 6 speakers.
How's the audio quality in your EX-L?
