Hey everyone been on here for awhile but always use the search feature for my questions. I'm on my second odyssey and can't seem to find my answer.
I'm having the gurgling noise under the dash that everyone seems to come across. When my wife took the van to the dealership yesterday for the valve adjustment they verified for me it was the issue. I have the part number for a new air control mixer. Everywhere I search for the part to buy, it shows me a diagram for the passenger side of the vehicle and the mixer to the left of the cabin filter. The motor I need to replace is on the driver side to the right of the gas pedal. Are these both the same motor? Is it one part number for both motors?
Look for these slightly different parts...
79160-SHJ-A41 MOTOR ASSY., TEMPERATURE DRIVER 140.08 98.34
79170-SHJ-A41 MOTOR ASSY., TEMPERATURE PASSENGER 140.08 98.34
79140-SHJ-A01 MOTOR ASSY., MODE 140.08 98.34
79350-SHJ-A01 MOTOR ASSY., FRESH/RECIRCULATING 140.08 98.34
@ OEM Honda Parts & Honda Accessories - Bernardi Parts search for your model (or by vin), go to the Electrical/Exhaust/Heater/Fuel section, and then the Heater Blower and Heater Unit page for diagrams. I do recommend the Helm manual set for access and replacement steps.
There is a thread on this with some nice photos somewhere on the forum (I'll look for it.)
I just started having this problem as well. I'm wondering though, Does the part really need to be replaced if it's only making noise? Because otherwise the heat/AC is working fine.
My 07 had cold air on the driver, hot on the passenger - which is fairly dismal in our warm climate. A workaround, until fixed, was to sync the temps and run it all the way down to LO, then bring it back up where we wanted it after a few seconds. If you needed both to be hot I suspect (but never tested) running it to HI might give temporary relief. I believe the sound is the stepper motor constantly working against bad linkage.
#6 is the Fresh/Recirculate motor
#12 is the Mode motor (floor, upper vents, etc); #13 the Driver and #14 the Passenger motor.
Your model may vary, but hope this helps.
I got a great deal on this van but it's needed a lot of work. After this I thought all I had left was to replace nylon ball that the door slides on. But the tpms light went off yesterday and the dealer says that one of the sensors in the wheels has gone bad. I was planning on doing the depax just not this soon because the tires are new.
You got a good deal, that's a nice break. If all you need to do is fix the door you're in great shape! Forget about the TPMS, you don't need them. Plus, a new sensor is only around $25 and you can put it in next time you change tires.
Also, if you read the link to the Pilot thread I posted you'll see that the guys there have a way to repair the part instead of replacing it. It's an easy fix and will save you big bucks for what looks like not much work. If you do the repair, post back and let us know how it goes.
Finally, consider the junk yard for these parts. Our year Ody's are now starting to show up in the yards. The two that are in my local yard have very nicely intact interiors and lot's of available parts. I've already grabbed numerous parts that will come in handy for the future and the price can't be beat. On several occasions the guys there just let me have stuff since they either don't know what it's worth or it's not worth enough for them to be bothered writing up an invoice. I'm pretty sure that I can get those blend door parts for about $10 each and if they work for a year, or maybe more, it will be well worth it.
sorry to hijack this post, but JCsHonda, would it be possible for you to see how much it would cost for the defroster door and linkage? I recently picked up an '06 LX and the linkage and post it is supposed to be on for the defroster door have been broken off so the defroster vents are always blowing air. I'll send you a PM as well.
It was a good deal because It needed: timing belt and all that stuff, rear struts, tie rod ends, new speakers, door latch motors, rear motor mount, and all the maintenance like fluids, plugs etc. The person drove it and never maintained it. I think I was the first person to wax it in 7 years.
It's at the dealer now getting two new tpms sensors, then I'll replace the air mix motor and fix the nylon roller for the doors. After that, fingers crossed, I'll just need the carbon cleaning on the engine. I've always used sea foam but need to research it more when I get to that point.
Thanks again for all the help.
