2008 EXL I-vtec timing belt or chain

I am just curious if the 2008 Ody EXL with VCM has timing belt or chain?

Timing belt according to the owners manual recommended to change every 60K miles if driven in extreme temperatures.

Either way safe to change it at 60K miles even if not driven in extremem temps.

I thought the timing belt was surpose to be changed at 106,000 or somewhere around there. Some people have gone past that point without a problem.

Timing belt is recommended for 105K change "normal" service. And I can't recall of a single belt breakage around the 105K mileage for the 3.5 liter motor. Many report only a "glazing" on the belts when replaced though experts emphasize "internal" damage as the major concern hence the emphasis to change it out in a timely manner even if mileage limits are not reached.

I agree with chiody, I replaced mine at 115K along with water pump and tensioner. I have 2006 EXL and live in Phoenix. Would recommend buying the belt from the dealer.

    Good info here:

    and

and last but not least.. write up on how to do it:

I did mine at 110k. Normal driving is 105k. The 60k recommendation is for harsh.. ie hot ass desert / super cold driving.

I got the asin kit and did plugs, coolant, ps fluid, oil, 3x tranny, tbelt, drive belt, idler pulley, water pump, and tensioner. Did not do cam or crank seals.. no leaks so not going to mess with it
