    Extended Warranty Issues

Bought an extended warranty for my 2014 Odyssey EX when it was new. I knew there would be things that wouldn't be covered, such as wear and tear, but now I'm finding out they don't want to cover things that are supposed to be covered. The sensor on the driver's side door to unlock the vehicle isn't working. Honda is now saying that isn't covered, even though it states clearly in the paperwork that electrical components are covered. Definitely not impressed that I have to fight them on something that is supposed to be covered. We'll see how this goes.

So after an email that was sent to Honda Canada, they called me back and said that although the component isn't covered (which it should be) they saw that I have been following the maintenance schedule and have a purchased extended warranty and because of that, want to help. They've gone ahead and contacted my dealer to order the part and says it will be replaced for free. Sucks that I had to go through this to get it taken care of but I'm glad they decided to cover it without too much fight. I have a little more faith in Honda now. I would hazard a guess that if I didn't have good maintenance records showing, they wouldn't have come through on this. One of the many reasons to follow the maintenance schedule.

Sucks that happens, but I'm glad you're being taken care of.

That sensor has nothing to do with maintenance.

Agreed. It's just a BS way of making an "exception" and saving face.

Pretty much. It's a component that should have been covered and was when I pushed the issue and they realized I wasn't going to stop.

Just to clarify...this is HondaCare? Not a 3rd party warranty?

It's called Honda Plus here, but yes, it is the Honda extended warranty, not 3rd party.
