Touring Elite Headlight Housings...Preparing To Add Hid

I got my Touring Elite headlight housings today. I considered the projector retrofit that some have done, and just wanted a clean install. Next step is to order the ballast, bulbs and wiring harness from TRS. One obstacle I was not expecting is the hole in the bottom of the headlights where the factory ballast attached. Any suggestions on how to cover this other than buying the factory ballast??

Looks like I may need to order the original OEM ballast/igniter, and try to either get someone to make me a wiring harness to fit this ballast, or hope TRS sells one. I will figure it out one way or another. I've been wanting these lights for a while now.

That's why I've been curious since I knew tubal last attaches from the bottom and wasnt sure the. H11 connector would fit the factory HID ballast.

If y got OEM ballast that could be the issue unless you get a TRS H11 D2S kit. You would just need to find a way to cover the bottom.

Yes ... To be clear..The only thing the pigtail is doing from the norm, is making the factory ballast plug into the TRS wiring harness. The ballast TRS sell uses a standard 9006 style connection..hence the wiring harness they sell is made to plug into that connection. Shown below is the ballast from TRS...note the 9006 connector on the ballast (the connector that plugs into the existing Honda harness will still be H11, this is JUST the BALLAST connection)..



This is the Honda OEM ballast...notice the different connector





So the pigtail in the picture below make the Honda ballast into a standard 9006 ballast connection..hence making it fit the TRS H11 harness...



If you notice..in the tech specs part of the harness it tells you the output connection for the harness (to the ballast, not the car) is a standard 9006 male/female..

Now I just gotta spend the rest of the money to buy the OEM ballast/igniters, bulbs, and wire harness. This actually turns out good because I have heard through research on HIDPlanet, OEM HID components are usually a better direction to go if possible, because of the quality. I hope the information I provided will be helpful to any that want to do this. When all is installed, I will post pictures.

how about the auto-leveling? does it require additional modules and wiring?

i would be really interested in seeing how does the factory HID housing output compare with the non-HID housing with aftermarket HID

Ok, I think I know what your plan is to purchase all the OEM ballast and use those then use the 9006 power plug harness to connect to the stock factory h11 connectors, correct?

I am not going to install the auto level motor. The headlights have a manual adjustment knob that the auto level motor can connect to...but it is not necessary.

I just realized the auto level motors come with the housings. Attached is a picture showing the motor and the place at the top of the motor to manually adjust the beam pattern with a screwdriver. I still won't be connecting these. The auto level feature is built into the factory wiring of a Touring Elite.
