    2011 Touring Liftgate Question

    New member here.

I just purchased a 2011 Touring, and I one thing I noticed when I go to open the liftgate from pushing the button above the license plate is that the liftgate doesn't automatically open when the button is pushed. Instead, I have to manually fully open the door myself. I wasn't sure if this is working as it should, or if something is wrong with the liftgate. Otherwise, if I push the button on my keyfob to open it, it opens and closes just fine.

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah I thought on a $40,000 vehicle that they could make the door open by itself when you push the button on the liftgate. I didn't really research the feature before we purchased but it is kind of annoying since our trade in vehicle had that and I still find myself pushing the button and waiting for it to open before I remember it doesn't do that anymore.

I agree. I think Chryslers and Dodges have this feature on their vans and SUVs.

Unless that has changed for the 2013s, it was the same as the Odyssey for the 2010 and 2011 vans I rented, you have to "manually" pull the liftgate:

You can always use the button on the key or the dash to open the door.

i don't see a big issue... just a very slight 'pull' to get the gate to move and the pneumatic struts open it with ease. Like others say - you can always use the key or dash buttons if you are wanting it to open automatically. It takes way more effort to close it--
