So, let's speculate... based on the recent launch of the 2013 Honda Accord, the 2013 Honda CR-V, the 3rd gen Odyssey mid-cycle refresh and the 2014 Acura MDX "concept" launched today at the NAIAS, this is what I think could come for the 2014 Mid-Cycle Refresh Odyssey (with percentages of probability for each ):

    Item: % chance
    • New wheel designs: 100%
    • New colors: 99%
    • Alloy wheels substitute the hubcaps in the LX model: 80%
    • New grille, updated front bumper: 95%
    • New taillights, updated tailgate: 95%
    • Delete thunderbolt profile: 0%
    • Color matching mirrors and rear spoiler in EX and above trims: 80%
    • 6AT now standard across all trims: 75%
    • Paddle shifters on relevant trims 0.5%
    • RES able to play Blu-Ray DVDs 50%
    • Updated Navigation and i-MiD (now with Pandora) on relevant trims: 70%
    • Push start button in Touring trims 70%
    • Twin LCD screen a-la 2013 Accord: 1%
    • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system in addition to the BSI for Touring trims: 50%
    • Active Cruise Control (ACC) for Touring Elite trim: 30%
    • New direct injection 3.5L i-vtec engine with VCM coming from the Acura MDX: 5%
    • VCM vibration cancelling improvements coming from the 2013 Acura RDX: 50%
    • Cabin Noise reduction improvements (subtle): 40%
    • Folding mirrors on Touring Elite (courtesy of the Honda Odyssey sold in South Korea): 20%
    • Inner armrests for 2nd row seats on EX or above trims: 10%

    Yes, way off, complete Dufus?

I'm one of those annoying guys who think black mirrors look good on a white van because it blends in with the window profile. (Glossy look on tourings, I don't like the mat finish on lower trims.

When we got our mudflaps and windshield nozzles painted while at the shops we roughly wrapped the mirrors n rear cowl in white vinyl and they really stuck out. The rear cowl was tuff to gauges because we didn't cut the vinyl we just draped it over to get a general idea, so that might fly, but the mirrors a no go for me.

If the van is a darker color, like the cherry one or if they offeree a gunmetal ya I'd be all for matching mirrors and rear cowl there!

I also think they look OK on light tones (the EX and above also have glossy finish mirrors, but is not very noticeable). See the 2013 MazdaSPEED3, black mirrors with gunmetal wheels, among others

Oh well, I may end up being completely off. And to your original question, I guess is tough as posted earlier, but as a reference, the 2008 mid-cycle refresh announcement came around September 2007 and the 4th generation (2011 MY) announcement came around June 2010. The 3rd gen owners may know about earlier leaks though...

Funny thing is I just noticed that on a Japanese white NSX-R, the side mirrors and spoiler are black as well. I'll just imagine I'm in one of those. LOL!

I do hope they have push button start / keyless go... and I'll bet Honda would like to add it for 2014, but it could be too tall of an order.

Honda has overall been pretty late to the keyless go/start game for all of their models... even their Acuras have been missing this feature for the most part until recently.

Sometimes things like keyless go are highly dependent on the architecture of the car's electronic systems / bus / etc. It may be that the way the Odyssey was designed, it was not designed with keyless go in mind, and thus adding it without redesigning the whole electronics system would be between difficult (and costly) to impossible.

It's kind of amazing what things aren't feasible due to vehicle electronics and wiring designs. I know a lot of GM vehicles that were even being sold as late as the 2012 model year were literally not capable of having navigation or an in dash touch screen as an option because of the design of the platform was too shortsighted and GM was convinced their on star turn by turn directions would be enough.

On another note, I would be pretty surprised if the updated direct injection 'earth dreams' V6 isn't put in for 2014. It's now in the Accord, and the design isn't a very significant departure from the current V6, so unless Honda just wants to burn up old inventory or something, they'll move to direct injection.

On that note, some of you were mentioning whether an improved VCM system would be in the V6... I'm not sure, I don't even know what's wrong with the VCM in the current Odyssey V6, but I suspect all you need to do is look at the 2013 Accord V6 and see if its VCM system has changed, and that'll give you a good idea on the 2014 Odyssey.

Kind of a bummer on the keyless. It seems Honda is very late to some of the features game. Still hoping for it for 2014!

I'd like to see them stop cramming features like a sunroof and RES into the topline models. Some of us of a certain age would like many of the features and comfort of the Touring and TE but have no use for them don't wish to pay for them. Make those two fairly expensive items options although I suppose that goes against their build philosophy.

I am not all that upset with the black mirrors and spoiler. Just my thoughts is it shows some contrast in our TE white diamond pearl. I am just disappointed that the mirrors don't power fold, my 09' Z71 GMC Sierra does. I am also disappointed in no remote start (or a poorly designed one your dealer has to install regardless of trim level). Again, my 09' GMC has a very good remote start from the factory and not dealer installed.
I was disappointed when I couldn't find a blu ray player in any car/truck/van. What is up with that? Just have to make sure when you buy a Blu Ray it comes with a Dvd copy too.
Oh, and what about factory installed tow package, body side molding, and the list goes on.

Still hoping for some of the updates to come soon. I know I will have to wait until September probably before I get a 2014 model.

I still think an all white one would look better. No reason the Odyssey has black mirror and spoiler, no other Honda has it and no other Honda other than lowel level modesl (DX, etc) have had it for the past 20 years.

They probably have black mirrors because people knock them off going in and out of the garage and this way they dont have to worry about painting them...That's why I like them (although I've yet to break one...)
