both of the front wheel well liners are cracked from the mounting screws just above the splash guards. how common is this problem?

Assume your ody is still under warranty. Try making appointment for warranty work, it never hurt to try. good luck. I would guess that your service manager would replace them w/o much fuss.

    Question

A dealer mechanic recommended against getting the add-in wheelwell liners due to Winter road salt. He said the liners can trap salt and moisture against the wheel wells, increasing the risk of rusting rather than decreasing it.

Does anyone else hold this opinion?

    Thanks!

Ok, so you are not talking about the <a href="http://handa-accessories.com/odyext02.html">"Fenderwell Trim?"</a> That is what the mechanic was talking about.

Perhaps when the splash guards were installed, they were put on too tight that it cracked the liner. Were these dealer installed? If so, they might replace it. If you installed it yourself, then I think you're out of luck. In any case I don't think it'll cause any problems.
