    Erased P0730 Code

On my 2003, I purchased a new code reader, and the code read P0730 came up. My question is, I went ahead and erased the code to get the CIL to go off. ( It is a pet peeve to constantly see this stupid light on, sorry)

I have already contacted the dealer and will bring it in next week. Will erasing the code create any diagnostic dilemma ? Or if it is a true code, it should reappear, correct ?

Interesting about the CIL coming on, it had just recently had the tires rotated, and the light came on immediately afterwards. I know there is no likely connection, but seemed sorta coincidental, since it happened as my wife pulled out of their lot...

    Thanks

Well at least you know what the code was (if not what it means) At this point I would get that info out of the dealer without incurring a diagnostic charge. If you're due for service, you could go anyway. Have you looked up the code?

Reseting the code resets all the information in the computer including the drive cycle tests and freeze frame data. It could take a week for the drive cycle tests to complete. As for the p0730 it is a shift control system error in the transmission. Are you noticeing any shifting problems with the transmission? The failure will probably be back. It sounds like the beginning of another transmission failure...

For future reference if you are going to take it to the dealer do not reset the code. Barring any physical indication he will probably only reset it the first time and tell you to come back.

So do spill all the beans. What model Ody? How many miles now? how many miles on it when you had the recall done? Changed the trans fluid? How many times? At the dealer? Tow? Have a cooler?
And of course Click and Clack would want to know what color it was

    2003 EX

    67,700 miles currently

safety recall for transmission done at 26,000 (over the 15 K mark, so the oil jet kit was done ?)

60K service just done in November- included front and rear brakes, coolant, ATF, air cleaner, and included replacing the right axle seal

does not have an addl. cooler, no towing ever, just routine driving

We'll see when the light returns on.

Interesting, we have not noticed ANY issue that would make us believe that the transmission was in jeopardy. Just became aware of it when I pulled the code out of it and went to this site..otherwise, it appears to run as usual...

Make sure fluid isn't low. If you haven't checked since it was changed now is a good time....

Who did this 60k service? Because they dumped out your 120k special Honda coolant. If it wasn't a dealer or a independent Honda specialist, they may have used the wrong ATF. Yes it matters....at lot.
