2000 Odyssey Air Compressor and clutch failure?

I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey with 163K on it. The belt tensioner was squealing a bit when the AC compressor kicked in about a week ago. I investigated it and it pointed towards the compressor.

Today the AC failed completely. The clutch will engage but the compressor turns very slow maybe one rev/min. There appears to be what remains of the clutch assy coming apart inside the pulley.

I am very mechanically inclined but have little AC experience. Any thoughts on replacing the unit myself VS a shop? I would not expect too many shops to just discharge the system only. I have read posts about replacing the expansion valve and dryer along with the compressor. I do not have access to Nitrogen but I do have access to a pump and gauges.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'd take it to a real AC shop for the repair.

It is more than likely that the compressor has distributed ground up bits of itself in the piping. If you or the shop don't do whats needed to get rid of the stuff, you'll end up shredding the next compressor in short order, or at least getting the stuff stuck in an expansion valve, meaning you won't have AC for long.

An AC shop will know what needs to be done. You can offer to decrease your costs by doing the mechanical work yourself, but they won't want you to connect any pipes(hopefully).
