Lightbulb Attn: Socals - Brunch Sunday, June 29th?

OK Gang,
I PM'd a couple of you, but I'm getting lazy... It's just so much easier to post here....

Here's the skinny: It's confirmed....I'm bringin' the family down to the LA area this coming weekend for the Disneyland-Knotts-visit relatives-etc... thing. I figured since I'm vacationing, why not an Odyclub mini-meet?

So, if you guys are interested, I'm clearing Sunday brunch to meet up with you guys, if you are free. Would love to meet you guys face to face, chat, and check out your rides.

I'm staying in the Anaheim area, and I'm not altogether familiar, so Fitz (or someone), would you mind choosing a kid/family friendly place we could have brunch and also meet?

I'd say around 10-10:30ish would be a good time for me.

Alright SJ, I'm all good for a Sunday Meet. Good places to dine in Anaheim? Hmmm... Anaheim is so big ... any preference in food? That might help. I know lots of members live around Anaheim. There's just so many places to eat in Southern California. If you want to keep it simple, we can have breakfast at a Denny's or something near Disneyland.

Wow, back-2-back Mini-Meets. It's becoming a regular event at the pace we're going. Let me check if WWodyz is available that weekend. I'm definitely down.

Alright SoCal members, we have a special guest "OdyClub's Audio/Video Guru" - ShinJohn who is going to be in town this weekend.

If any of you have recommendation as to a good place to eat around Anaheim that is family-friendly, please feel free to post it. Looking forward to meeting you in person SJ. I'll keep you posted. Give me some time to think.

SJ, as per my PM I probably won't be able to make it. Our escrow closes on Monday and I have next Saturday off of work so we're going to be moving our food storage and getting the garage cleaned out (we currently have my garage space full to the ceiling with packed boxes). Sunday will probably be the same story after church. We have until 7/13 to move out so we're taking it nice and slow.

Too bad. Have fun in SoCal! Be sure to wear sunblock, I was at Sea World today with no sunscreen and now have a slight red outline of my sunglasses. Don't let those clouds deceive you.

K...now I'm done. Have a fun and safe trip!

10-10:30 on Sunday should work for me. Got some stuff in LA in the afternoon, but I'd venture behind the Orange Curtain for a mini-meet and a chance to meet the illustrious SJ.

Hey Fitz,
Thanks for helpin' out! As far as kinds of food, we are pretty easy, though I was originally thinkin' kinda like traditional American brunch kinda stuff since the kids like pancakes, etc... and lots of those places are real kid friendly.

Personally, something like dim sum or asian fare would be awesome, but it's tough with the kids.... Though vietnamese is always a big hit with my whole family...

Man, I'm gettin' hungry now thinkin' of food. I'm remembering there's L&L down south too.... Hmmm....

Anyhow, I digress. I trust ya. Set us up. Maybe also a place where there's other stuff too so if (more like when) my wife and kids get bored, they can shop or what not.

Man, it'll be cool to hook up with you guys too. Sorry about the short notice, esp. you Ben! Too bad, Michelle, next time, next time. And Matt: gotta check out your setup!

Seeyas!

There is a great dim sum place on Euclid and Crescent in Anaheim. It's just a little ways up from Disneyland.

By any chance, do you know the name of the Dim Sum place? Are you going to be able to make it LHOdy? You know I haven't met you yet. There are so many of us here in So Cal and I want to meet many of you So Cal members. Planning on attending?

SJ, hopefully its a nice day not like our previous mini-meet. It was sprinkling a little that that's the main reason why we didn't get good shots. It's actually getting warmer so you might want to check out the weather this weekend so that your family is aware on what sort of clothes to bring. I having a feeling we'll be hitting over 110F this summer. Ack!!! Not really looking forward to that. By the way SJ, did you need recommendations on shopping areas here in So Cal or around Anaheim? Let me know. South Coast is closeby. So is The Block. OC Marketplace. Those are just some good places to go.

Mapcam235, wow dude, back to back meets. Looking forward to seeing you again. See you all on Sunday.

I will try. The address is:

Ten Ten Seafood Restaurant
671 N Euclid St, Anaheim, CA 92801
Phone: (714) 991-9272

It's a large restaurant, so there is no problems with kids. It is right next to a 99 Ranch Market. You can get there from the interstate 5 and Euclid.

Thanks for the Info LHOdy. Wow, I didn't know they had a 99 Ranch Market in Anaheim. For Dim Sum, I usually go to Sam Woo. They have the best Dim Sum IMO. However, I don't think there are any in Anaheim. Well, I hope you can make it to the meet.

I'm looking forward to seeing SJ's setup in the Van. Mr. OdyClub's A/V Guru. I'm sensing it's going to get really Technical A/V-wise when Mapcam235 and SJ start their discussions. I can imagine it now: RMS? THD? Wattage? Ohms? Equalization?

Anyone else care to join us? Everyone is welcome to attend.

I see Sam Woo was mentioned. There is a Sam Woo on Culver in Irvine. From what I've heard they have above average Dim Sum for OC.
Shinjohn, you mentioned vietnamese food. I live close to Little Saigon and there are more than plenty restaurants for you to enjoy Vietnamese Cuisine here. For Dim Sum, try Dragon Phoenix Restaurant in the heart of Little Saigon on Bolsa Street. Their Dim Sum are okay. Better than others in the area, but for good Dim Sum you need to go to LA. Have their Dim Sum, but don't stay for the regular menu items. Come before noon to avoid waiting.

There are other great restaurants to eat in Little Saigon, but there are some to be avoided at all cost. So if you would like to swing down to LIttle Saigon from Anahiem, let me know. It is a short 10-15 minute drive from Disneyland. I can help you find a place that will offer great food.

There are many restaurants immediately surrounding Disneyland. Denny's is accross Katella Street from Disneyland. A place everyone knows. May be crowded in the mornings because a lot of people eat here before going to the park.

I think I cannot make to the meet. Darn!!! I work on weekends. Depending on my schedule, I may drop by.

Alright guys,

How does Ten Ten Seafood Restaurant sound to everyone? SJ?

I'm down for Chinese Food any day... especially if there is Dim Sum.

If Chinese Food doesn't appeal to everyone, we can always go to In-N-Out! There is one off Brookhurst in Anaheim

In-N-Out
600 S. Brookhurst St.
Anaheim, CA 92804
Location of In-N-Out

It's definitely going to be an Audio/Video show-and-tell day. I want to see some overhead screen setups. I want to get some ideas from whoever has them installed on their Ody and also ask our special guest some advice as well.

As previously stated, everyone is welcome to attend. We encourage everyone to attend. When we get big enough, maybe we can start contacting Honda and see if we can visit any Honda Plants they have here in So Cal or maybe we can do some Road Trips or something as a group. Just some ideas I've been thinking about that we can do in the future.

I'm cool with the seafood rest. or whatever. The healthier, the better, but I digress to the goodness of In-N-Out from time to time.

Man, this week has been crazy. Hope that I have time to wash the Ody on Saturday.

SJ, If you feel like it, bring your dB meter. Not that this has to become an audio-tech meet, I am just eager to learn from a pro.
