Flashing d4 light, or normal?

I did a search but can't get a clear answer. I know that if the D4 light flashes it means there is a tranny problem. I don't exactly know if mine is "flashing". What it does sometimes, and I noticed this the other day for the first time in a while, is the D4 light gets dimmer and brighter as the tranny shifts. It seems to get brightest right before an upshift. It is hard to notice unless my lights are off and there is no sun shining on the dash. A cloudy day. So if any one here had the "flashing" D4 light that led to a failed tranny, were the flashes a dimming and brightening like mine or were they more steady? Did it flash in D4 while not driving or accelerating? Any help here would be nice. Thanks.

On my Acura a flashing D4 means a bad VSS. Not sure if OBDI and OBDII work the same way generating that error though.

Also could mean a bad tranny.

I think flashing in this context means on and off not dimming and brightening. You have a problem of some sort but I doubt it is a transmission problem.

I don't think it is going on and off. Thanks for reply. I wonder what it is.
I read your reply in the other thread, 03SSEXL. I'll check my oil cap and stick, but I think they are tight. Thanks.

Any one else?

I had this problem with my 02 and it turned out to be the green alternator plug and the no starting was the ignition switch . This was several years ago and I'm sure the dealer's should know about this problem but if they don't ask them to contact their online advice line. Hope this helps.
