RainX lovers?

I was wondering if there are any rain-x lovers here. I also wanted to share my experiences.

I first tried the squirt bottle form, Hard to apply, didn't last long.
Then the spray bottle, Easier to apply, Didn't last long.

Then the Pink Washer Fluid Concentrate. This stuff promised a lot. For about 7 bucks you got 16 oz. You needed to add just 2oz to a gallon of plain water and you had a solution that was Washer Fluid and reapplyed the RainX treatment with every misting.

It delivered. I applyed spray RainX to the windshield and filled up my resivoir with the washer fluid. I got great results. I haven't applyed the spray on wipe off stuff since. I have no desire to either, I don't see a reason to, my windsheild sheds water great. Even in heavy rain, I can look right past the rain drops as they flow off of my windsheild.

I don't think they sell the Pink Stuff anymore. They do still have a concentrate though. Now its up to 4 oz per gallon. A 16 oz bottle cost about $5.

I recently "converted" two cars to rainx-ers. I decided I am never putting on the spray on wipe off treatment again, so i just added the washer fluid solution, and let the wipers do the work. I started with two dirty rain attracting windshields. I figure I 've gone through about half of the fluid so far and both windshields are working great now.

When driving I always spray the washer when it starts to rain. I get a fresh coat of rainx and the drops go flying away. Other than the times they are wiping away the washer fluid, my wipers stay parked when I'm going above 50. There's really nothing to wipe.

I think the angle of the windsheild plays a part in how well rainx works for you. And I would defintely advise against the spray on wipe off stuff. Its washer fluid all the way for me. Follow the mixing instructions exactly, too much concentrate and you will get streaking. But you can always add more water anyway.

The cars i have RainX on are:

2002 Honda Odyssey > over 80,000 miles, we have averaged over 90 miles a day, still going strong. Love my 240hp.

2003 Nissan Altima > just got it with 27,000 miles, and yes its the 2.5 But, 175hp(CVTC, similar to iVTEC), 2900lbs, 4sp auto, lead foot, Better mileage than Ody or Sephia. This engine has an EXCELLENT low end. $14,800

2001 Kia Sephia > just got it with 53,000 miles, still under the Standard 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, nice touch. 1.8L 125hp(non Vtec), 2500lbs., 4sp auto, lead foot, Gas mileage about same as Ody This engine Seriously needs a low end. But, $3,000

Thumbs up

I've been using the wipe-on Rain-X for years on all my cars with the same great results, beading and clearing at good speeds.
I also apply it to my headlights and mirrors.

I'am also a RainX fan for more than 23 years when I got my first car. I always use the liquid and wipe off product. I never saw that mixing solution, but it look to be a nice product.

The only downside of it, is when you taste that product you cannot drive someone esle car in rain if it doesn't have it on !!!

The RainX pays by itself just with the fact that you don't need to replace the windshield wiper anymore...because, you don't use them...

I too use the squirt bottle (not concentrated) and it works well but only for a couple weeks. I do not reapply often enough.

juanricos, I also have a 2002 Ody and 2003 altima 2.5S. I leased the alty just wanting to get an affordable car that looks nice until the Ody was paid for - I like it more than i though I would. Best 4 banger I ever drove.

I have found that the best way to apply RX is to squirt one side liberally, then, using a palm size square of paper towel, spread it out, using circular motions as it begins to dry, thereby coating one side with an even haze. Repeat on the other side, still using the square of paper towel.

Then repeat the above procedure. You want two "coats" of RX.

Finally, douse the windshield with a hose or water from a liter bottle, and this will remove the haze. You are ready for rain.

If the slight streaking bothers you, then you can polish lightly with a terry cloth towel.

I find that this will last me about two rains. I always apply RX Before a highway trip, because rain or not, the bugs hardly ever adhere to the windshield, and it can be cleaned with only a light polishing with terry cloth towel.

This is very true... I even apply it to rental cars if I have to use them for more than a few days, you never know.

RainX makes it so much easier to see even when it is a down pour and there are cars stopped on the side of the highway. I've never tried the mix in version, just the wipe on kind and have been for 20 years.

I've used all three forms of Rain-x and by far the wipes work the best.

A few years ago, Amway use to have this product called porcelain protector. This was the absolute best stuff and lasted months at a time. They made it too good cuz they stopped selling it because of low sales...a shame.

Ahh Rain-X! This stuff works REALLY well. I spray the hell out of the windshield (3 or more coats) and the two front side windows, the rear window and the outside mirrors. It will last for a couple of months or until the next major carwash!
the Fog-X or whatever its called works well inside to prevent the windshiled from fogging up in the winter.
Speaking of winter, Rain-X also make it easier to remove snow from the windshield. Seems to help it slide off. Ice is not so much of a problem either.
Only issue is the haze left over. a wet cloth helps to remove that.
Great Stuff!

I used RainX instead of the wiper motor I refused to replace on a old minivan.... Did it for years before junking it. RainX really works great above 40-50 mph...no need for wipers at all...

it seems that in my past 4 vehicles the wipers skipped across the windshield if i didnt keep up on the rainx and once it started it wouldnt stop. I guess it took replacing one motor to realize that. Now I am torn between using it for the first time on this van or not to.

I agree. I still have half of a bottle of the pink washer fluid additive. I put the spray version on mine and my husband's cars two or three times a year and it is still working the next time I Rain-X. My husband almost never uses his windshield washer fluid, so I know it's the actual spray Rain-X still working on his car. (I use the washer fluid alot, so my windows are getting a fresh coat every week.)

Rain X and most any residue can be removed by using ammonia and water solution. Don't forget to clean the wiper blade thoroughly too.

So go ahead and apply RainX if you want to?
