Aloha,

My name is Lynn. Just received new 2006 EX-L RES in Silver/Grey this past week. I live on the island of Oahu where there are only 3 dealers who do not negotiate below MSRP, even having the gall of asking $4k ADM!!! After months of research, even calling the mainland (a.k.a. Continental US) for prices, I finally gave up and bought at Honda Windward through the costco program, which here is not much off MSRP. I envy those who get at invoice or even invoice + 2k. With shipping and taxes, etc, I was only going to save a few hundred from buying in California.

I do not know anything about cars, which is why I am so happy with the honda with only minimal maintenance (oil, tires, battery) until the first tune up at 100k miles.

I am currently in the market for seat covers (my neighbors have wetokole in their ody), an extra headset and some kind of dust mop to dust the car off. I have the all weather mats on order through ebay ($60 to ship ouch).

I love reading through the posts, have been for about a month, there is a treasure chest of advice here and I love it!!!

Welcome to Odyclub and congratulations on your new van! I am working on getting seat covers myself. I have contacted GT Covers and they were great about sending me some color samples right away. They custom make seat covers for the '05/06 Ody so that they fit well and the air bags can still deploy. I need to ask them about cutouts for the LATCH anchors, but I will probably be ordering seat covers from them soon. You can find them on the web at www.gtcovers.com.

i checked out the website and have not seen any pattern i like. which swatches did you order? i have the same color interior (gray) as yours and i am interested to see what others are considering.

Welcome Lynn, you did not make a bad choice, come on you live in HI... Ive been there a zillion times and would love to live there... If only I could build a house in the middle of the ocean.. Okay back to HONDA Odyssey talk, they are the best vans out there, you will enjoy every minute of it. This board has some awesome members who will help, ten fold! The only question I have is did you get Honda Care? I highly reccomend it if you plan on keeping it past the 3 years, and if you did let us know the price as well there are several ways of getting it dirt cheap. so you have 30 days to cancel if you already got it otherwise you can sign up anytime before 3yr/36K miles.

Enjoy your new van, just stay away from those Mopeds/Motor scooters..and the occasional golf cart!

yes, we did get the honda care plan, it was 1588 for the 8 yr/100k. that got tacked onto my auto loan. i think the only good deal i got was that my auto loan is 4% from my insurance company. how much cheaper is the honda care plan out there?

Lynn,

I ordered the following swatches from GT Covers:

T19 New Gray Velour (Dark Gray)
T18 Charcoal Velour (Medium Gray)
T16 Stone Velour (Light Gray)
H8 Graphite Velour (black in person)

The closest color that I found was T19. It is a shade darker than the seats, but it matches the dash board and the floor mats well. (I thought T18 was the next best match. It is a shade lighter, or at least it looks that way. The Ody seats are gray with a dark, thin pattern in them so it doesn't truly match either one.) I just sent an email to Ted Frazier @ GT Covers with questions about the LATCH system and those seat covers. I will let you know what I learn. I can give you his phone number or email if you are interested. (They sent a business card with the samples.)

thanks for the info!! i will recheck the website. i was actually considering wet okole since my neighbor has it (and loves it), plus the store is actually here on o'ahu (downtown honolulu) but the traffic getting there is killer!! you guys are the best!!!

Lynn 4 percent is great. AHFC hasnt come down that low yet lowest they have I think is only 6.9%
So how many miles are on it already?

i have about 180 miles now. i just noticed that the honda care plan with ericka is about $400 less than what i paid. and the guy told me he was selling at almost cost!! do you know anyone who had the honda care plan tacked onto the auto loan to have the plan cancelled later? i would love to save the $400.

My neighbor bought his with the van also, and he got his money back no problem. I bought mine through ericka. no one can beat her prices. Go for it.
