My first long trip in the ody.... wow!!!

A few weeks ago my wife my 3 and 1 year old boys and I took off on our biggest trip in the ody. not as big as some of the ones i read about but big for us. We left on a saturday from Tacoma, wa and went straight to a suberb of boise. Ill start by saying i joined the 500 mile club on that stretch. went 505 on 19.5 gallons. thats 26 mpg with a/c 75% and going 70-80 most of the way. i couldnt believe it. and i still had 1.5 gal left. gas light cam on at 470.

then after a few days in boise we when to spokane. i wish i would have gotten gas right when we pulled into town because it was 420 miles and we drove arounf in town till 485 miles and still got 26 mpg. and the gas light never came on. the other tank was strictly freeway. i even took a couple sprints up to 100 and 105 mph on that 2nd tank.

then from there we went to yakima then home. on the way to yakima we were going up a pretty steep hill and there was this newer grand am with a girl in it that would not let me pass. i wasnt trying hard, just pressing the accel button on cruise to get by and everytime she would do it too. this went on for about 30 min. finally on this hill going about 80 i got tired of her and punched it. i didnt know what to expect on a steep hill at 80mph with a fairly loaded van but needless to say she couldnt keep up. thats impressive for a minivan in my opinion. granted it wasnt anything like going 25 and stepping on it but it still got the job done.

anyway, was a great ride very comfortable and great gas milage. we drove to utah a few years ago in a 02 or 03 impala rental and got 27 mpg with out kids. so for this 4500 lb van to get that is awesome.
