Follow-up to thumping sound...bad solenoid, not ABS pump noise

This is a follow-up to the post here Original thread

We got the van back today and all is well for now. It was not the ABS pump (as I thought it wasn't and everyone insisted that it was and that this was a normal sound).

They replaced a Clutch Linear Solenoid, part #2850-RDK-014. The service manager even drove it and had it do it to him.

The paperwork states the following:
"Clutch solenoid A stuck on. Replaced clutch shift solenoid A."

The also replaced the driver's sun visor, the top gasket on the windshield, filled it up with gas and washed it. They actually drove it over 50 miles to test it out. The van was only 2 days old when it went in.

I guess nobody else has had this problem. Where are all of the people who told me this was normal and all of them make this noise?

Ours doesn't thump as you described and is definately not normal. Not sure what people are thinking on that one. Kudos to your service dept., sounds like you have a decent one.
Thanks for posting the details.

+1 to the above re your dealer. Sorry to hear of your early woes, but with a dealer like that you should be (or soon will be) happy with your van. We've not had any funny thumping but did have a couple of issues (power steering noise, brake groan, brake rotor pulse) which our dealer readily fixed, so that in the 18 months we've had our 2006 it's been in the service bay maybe two or 3 days total. (I do all of the preventive maintenance, so we don't take it to the dealer for that). We love our Ody and hope you can (eventually) love yours too!

OK, I just read the other thread. (you know, the one this thread should be a post to instead of starting a new one) There were only a couple of people who suggested it might be a normal sound. (I was one of them) Indeed, one or two new owners a week come here and report a sound when first starting out. Therefore my questions about exactly when it happened. No, nobody else has reported this problem. I guess you are special.

I was going to add it to my original post but nobody was really looking at it anymore so I started a new one. I am not new to this whole message board thing. I have been a member of two F150 message boards for over 7 years.

I was just frustrated that everyone told me that it was normal and they all do it. I did post that it did it more than 10 times the first night and that it did not match anyone's description of the ABS pump noise.

I was just trying to find out if anyone has had the same noise/problem before. I am thankful that this is not a normal thing to happen.

I guess I really am just special.

I am just glad the dealer took the time to really look into it and fix it. So far, so good on the fix.

That's the point tho'. If you had posted to the other thread then your message would be as new and visible as this one but it would also have the history right there. Anyway glad it got fixed.

Honestly, you can't expect people to diagnos a noise over the net. Glad it worked out.

Glad the repair worked, so far.

Maybe it is a Honda forum thing. Some fanboy posters get irritated just because new posters don't happen to follow some unwritten rules or have a situation that does not follow the conventional thought of the forum. Every noise is not the ABS pump.

If you look at my original post I replied back with updates and nobody responded. I then decided to create a new thread and people responded.

I realize that. I am just glad that the dealer was able to diagnose the problem and my wife did not have to drive the rental Dodge Grand Caravan for one more minute. What a piece that thing was!
