Talking First ever So Cal Ody Meet

Great fun folks. We had a total of seven OdyClub members show up for the fun, food and company. Six Odys were there as shellebelle couldn't bring her Mom's Ody.

Attendees included Ben (bmutuc), John & Jan (jarcher, get it, single handle for two!), Fitz (KaliOdy), Marty (moh), Mike (mnkimura), Michelle (shellebelle), and Kevin (djbs). Wives and kids too! It's great to put faces to names finally.

The OdyClub decals went to Ben, Fitz, Michelle, Mike (the oldest Ody, a 97 with only 40k miles!), and Kevin. Great job folks! Thanks for those, Jim! I think Fitz won the cool California Car Duster that was raffled off.

Kevin brought some delicious chicken from the family restaurant that is nearby! Ben also brought some chicken. Thanks, Kevin and Ben!

Ben's new pearl white paint job caught everyone's eye but so did John & Jan's RP van. Shellebelle's mother's van is also RP! Fitz's sound system was cool. Guess I'll do a speaker upgrade since listening to Marty's speakers. Ben got the nod for the coolest Ody at the meet!

In all we had a 1997 blue Ody, 1999 Canyon Stone Ody, 2000 Pearl white Ody, 2002 Taffeta White Ody, 2002 Silver Ody, 2002 Redrock pearl Ody.

Fitz, thanks for bringing the RC car for my son Evan to play with.

Pics to follow as many were taken by everyone. I think all the other OdyClubbers will have much to pitch in too. Go for it!

JARCHER, I was just about to post a report on the meet, but you beat me to it. No sweat! Well, I guess I'll beat you to the pictures. Here they are for everyone's viewing pleasure:

We started the day off with quick introductions and finding an ideal location to setup for the meet. The day was full of great company. There were seven Ody Members that attended and some brought their families. The children had a lot of fun playing in the "shaded" sand pit thanks to mnkimura. It was definitely a day full of fun and getting to know more about each member's Odyssey. First and second generation Odysseys were in attendance in this first ever SoCal meet. As jarcher has already stated, bmutuc's Odyssey was the most popular because it was definitely a stand-out from the crowd... with its WingsWest body kit and wing, Erebuni Grill and Eye Lids, big rounded muffler tip, and last but not least the unique pearl white paint job. Again, it was a pleasure to meet each of the attendees and your family. I look forward to the next SoCal Ody meet. I hope more members can make it on the next one.

No problem on the RC Car John. My wife suggested that we bring some stuff for the kids so that they can enjoy while we members chat. Next time I'll bring a "gas" powered RC so the adults can play as well.

It sure was nice to meet everyone. Too bad I couldn't bring up the Ody. I got home and the thing was full of old toys and stuff (?) so I guess my parents needed it.

Is there any info on the North/South meet? If we do it near San Simeon my parents will probably be up to going (not to the meet, I'd just drop them off at Hearst Castle). I remember there being a nice little park across the way (but there might be some concern being that close to the water with young kids).

Anyway, we definitely need to meet again!

Michelle

Hey everyone,
Nice to meet you all. Hope no one got sick from eating the chicken! I was the last sticker person. And, I will try and step it up on the mods. I am doing some research for the headlights, which will include a trip to Target! I have tried to remember all the things I wanna to do and have started to compile a list (eek!). Hey Jarcher, what did you type in on E-bay to get the reverse lights to come up? I did a search for "PIAA" and "odyssey lights" but nothing has come up. Anyways, nice meeting you all and hopefully we will do this again soon!

So Cal Ody Members,

It was fun for our family as well.
I would like to thank jarcher for initiating/coordinating the event.

PIAA 7440's

Kevin,

The bulbs you need for the reverse lights are the PIAA 7440. I believe I have an extra pair in my garage that I'll sell to you if you want them. $10

I'm surprised you couldn't get a hit on E-Bay. Search on PIAA 7440 or just PIAA alone. I got hits in both cases.

They really make a difference when backing up. Did not get the same satisfaction using them with the turn signals.

Let me know.

Chicken was great. The fam will try out your restaurant some time soon.

Kev, I recommend that you go for the bulbs. It sounds like a great idea especially in the evenings when your backing up you'll need as much light as you can get from your bulbs. At $10, that's a steal. If you're not going to buy it then I will ... but I suggest you get the one that jarcher is selling. I was surprised that you didn't get any results on your search from ebay. This is what I found when I did my search:

E-Bay Results for PIAA Bulbs

I'll check on the body kit for you. I've already sent the email to my contact so I should here back from him later on during the day. Let's talk offline on this... I'll send you a PM later.

Foglights, I would recommend that you go with the OEM Fog Lights. Shouldn't have a problem installing those since they're made for the Odyssey. If you're not satisfied with the stock bulbs then you can change them to match your headlight bulbs since I sensed that you want the "cool white" look. Good luck on your future mods.

Nice Pics!!!

It sure sounds like you all had a great time. Sorry I missed it. This was me in traffic on my drive from SLO.

Ben, I left a voice mail on your cell at 1100 hrs when I was at Santa Maria.

Will someone coordinate the All Cali Meet now that the SoCal Meet took place?

Elmer

ODYCLUB flyer

Thought that I'd create this. Take a look at it, print copies out, keep 'em handy in your car, leave 'em on unsuspecting Odysseys you see when you are out and about.
