Question LED Dash Lights...A Possible Solution

After installing several new bulbs in the dash, I realized that several more had gone out. I suspect it was caused by the vibration of removal of the panels. In any case…

I was looking for LED replacement lamps and finally came across a company that sells the NEO-WEDGE bulbs that are already fitted with LED’s. These are available in several different colors and the price is more than reasonable. If these will work…they would be a permanent replacement.

Since neo-wedge bulbs are certainly not my specialty, I wanted to post the link and let the local experts reply as to which size would fit which application. From my measurements, I believe the NEO-3 would be the size that fits the clock and several of the switches (the small base). As far as the larger ones (like used in the HVAC control lighting) I’m not sure if the NEO-4 or NEO-5 would be correct. Thanks!

This would be a great mod.

You should buy a few and try them out since they are cheap.

I am thinking of doing that. However...I'm not sure if the bulb for the HVAC is the Neo 4 or 5 base. I guess I'll have to pull the dash out again, remove a bulb and measure the larger base. I was hoping someone would have the larger base available and mic its size and compare that to the schematic on the website.

I agree that it would be a great mod. It should stop the bulb replacements.

I bought those bulbs for my buddys grand caravan for his dash cluster and they light up real nice and easy to work with. Just twist the old ones out and twist the new ones in. Now I believe with those before you put everything back together I would plug your dash gagues back in and make sure they work, because they will only work one way. If it doesn't light up, you just untwist and put it in the other way.

Thanks for that input. With an LED its that anode/cathode thing and they won't work if the polarity is reversed! Thanks for the reminder!

OK...I ordered some LED replacements for my Odyssey's dash and instrument cluster. I'll take a few pictures and give an update on installation and performance. I hope it will be illuminating!

With the neo-wedge bulbs you'll find that the ones using the PLCC-2 surface mount LEDs (top center in the picture) work better that then ones using the 3 or 5 mm LEDs. I've run both in my xB and found the light pattern to be better with the PLCC-2 surface mount LED.

This is wonderful

Am really happy to hear that there is LEDs for the clock light. However I wonder if the speedometer have one 2?

During my search on ebay I found this listing for the Clock bulb the seller do a good job in advertising the Neo bulb and provide instruction as well!

Anyhow I will be waiting and see how it goes with Flyboy Keep us posted plz

Thanks

For the Heater controls the sizes are Neo 4s. For the clock and the dome light switch theyer Neo 3s. I would get the SMD looking onw for the middle A/C switch {switch with the deffoger and AC return button on it} but for the rest you can get away with the standard Neos {cheaper}. For the Clock the SMDs look worse, I dont know why
