Rear window washer - from where?

Hi there, more dumb questions - I'm still trying to get a handbook for our Ody, I've got one that sort of covers most things.

We discovered at the weekend that there is a rear window washer, well the nozzle is so darned small it might take a while. So then we started a hunt for the reservoir. Our old Mitsubishi Chariot (Expo) had a total of three. So we started at the back, but found nothing. The 'almost' handbook agrees there is a rear washer, and tells us how to use it. The trouble is nothing happens. And the handbook refers to only the one reservoir.

So, does the one reservoir in the front service both front and rear washers? There is a pumping sound from the front when activating the rear washer, so I assume it does. But if the front washer works, and the reservoir is full, and the rear one doesn't, is there any likely reason for the rear one to not work?

I'm not positive about the 97 model, but one reservoir should serve both front and rear. Check the rear nozzle to see if it's clogged. You can probably use a straight pin or very thin wire to unclogg the nozzle. Then check the tubing that connects to the nozzle. When the hatch is open, you should be able to see a small diameter tubing (either clear or black) that feeds the nozzle. Check to make sure it's connected properly and not kinked. If it's clear, check to see if there is fluid inside. If no fluid, you will have to follow it upstream towards the hood to find out where the fluid is "stopping". Good luck.

Funny thing happend this past weekend. I ran out of washer fluid for the front windshield but I could still wash the back window for several minutes. Go figure. Not sure where all that water came from for the back glass. I filled the front reservoir up and now can wash the front again.

The water was stored in the long hose that connects the rear nozzle to the reservoir. I'm guessing the hose is at least 8ft long to reach the front, therefore alot of fluid will still remain.

washer

yeah it does come from the front engine based tank, it took along time to get the water down there when we first got the car, and I was looking about for the tank myself, but the japanese manual only shows the front tank,

Thanks for this.

Mine came right after a while too, which I was pleased about as it saved me having to tackle it. I presume mine must have been empty for a while, and then filled up when it was serviced before we bought it, or when it arrived at the yard a couple of days before we bought it. And then nobody tried the rear washer much, and it took ages to get through.

It has gone fine ever since. Thanks for the reply.
