6x9  Pioneer Speakers in the Rear Hatch

6x9.jpg (52529 bytes) Pigtails soldered on to speaker selector switch
6x92.jpg (42641 bytes) had to use 2 DPDT rockers because I couldn't find a 4 pole double throw
6x93.jpg (40077 bytes) These switches alow me to select either the rear 4" factory speakers or the new Pioneer 6X9's
6x94.jpg (60604 bytes) Hummm...Need room for the big magnets and the speaker mounting screws must catch the metal structure
6x95.jpg (59712 bytes) Wire snake! Got the speaker wires to the rear and up the C pillar and through the rubber tube.

6x97.jpg (47647 bytes) Two 3/4" spacers that will go between the interior panel and hatch metal. Just got to saw apart.
6x98.jpg (36502 bytes) Flimsy plastic panel. trim padding and ribs on backside where spacers go.
6x99.jpg (53025 bytes) Time to install interior panel with spacers, pre drill mounting holes and install speakers.

6x912.jpg (45181 bytes) 2" self taping screws go through speaker flange, interior panel, spacer and tap into metal sub-structure.
6x913.jpg (48507 bytes) Finished. Plastic panel is flimsy. Speaker mounting screws must catch the metal sub-structure!
