The stock Ody antenna.....
...can be changed to the Honda S2000 antenna mast if you prefer the look. I still haven't decided which I like best, but this is sure easier to clean and more car wash friendly.
The S2000 mast ordered from Trevor at handa-accessories.com Costs about $12 plus shipping.
The short thread.
...isn't long enough to reach the threads in the antenna mount.
Comparing the two shows why.
These items, or something similar, are all you need to extend the thread and fill the gap created by the thread extension.
Cut the threads from a machine screw that matches diameter and pitch..
....then use the nut and a little Lok-Tite to join them.....(Thanks, Hy, I ended up using a derailleur nut from a bike that had about twice as much thread as the one shown)
...like so. I decided to add the chair tip cap to match the plastic textures. What you use to fill the gap will be determined by what you have laying around your shop.
Ready to go.
Voila!
Whether or not it's an improvement is a matter of taste, but at least it's easier to clean.
The chair cap matches perfectly Now a little tire shine and it's all done.
...and another view.
