Driver's seat. The bottom of the
seatback is so firm that it pushes your butt forward, making the bottom
cushion seem too short and also causing a strain on your lower back.
Working on the passenger's seat,
this is the J-seam at the bottom of the seatback cushion. Separate the
front from the rear piece to allow the seatcover to be rolled up.
It's basically just two J-shaped
pieces of plastic with the "hooks" of the J interlocked. This is
what it looks like as it starts to separate.
Use a long X-acto blade to slit
the cushion to reduce the support at the bottom. Another way to do it
would be to cut out a section of the foam in an area this size and replace
it with a section of softer foam.
As you can see from the length
of the blade, the slits were 1 1/2 - 2" deep.
The slits extend up to about the
level of the bottom of the armrests. Then make about three horizontal
slits so the whole area is made up of roughly 1" squares. They're
marked here for visibility.
Now remove alternate pieces of
the foam. This is about ten cubic inches of foam removed.
Back together and much more
comfortable!
