Flip-up Tray
Rattle Fix
Photos and text by Chuck Konarske

I thought I had it fixed once, but the
folding table was a big source of rattles, especially on sharp bumps. This fix
eliminated several noises I didn't know were coming from the tray.

Pull this cover from the side of
the passenger seat and these four clips will pop out.
There are tabs at the arrows
that need to be lined up when reassembling.
Remove these three nuts to
remove tray from the passenger seat. I took the pics with the tray
installed, but you need to remove it to do the mods.
The pivots need to be
disassembled, greased, and the yokes formed tighter to eliminate play
between the pieces.
The lower left arrow is wrong
here. The others point to the parts that need to be bent tighter.
A better view.

Remove the e-ring and the shaft
in all four joints.
After taking them apart, bend
the sides in for a tight fit. It should be a little hard to reassemble. |
I didn't take this one apart,
but was able to quiet it anyway. |
These two also need the same
treatment, for a total of four pivot points to be tightened and greased. |
