    Selling stuff online question

I've never really sold high dollar items online outside of eBay. For selling things through a forum, how do you prevent from getting scammed and/or getting a charge back from the buyer?

Do you mean selling a car? Different items require different levels of precaution. Assuming that your state requires the title signature to be notarized you will want to make sure the title is not signed/notarized until you are satisfied complete payment has been secured without worried of counterfeit currency, etc. I typically utilize a neutral public meeting place that I know has security cams in place. Many communities have or are now designating specific spots for peer to peer transactions for safety. A bank or car dealer during normal business hours typically have a notary available.

Paypal or Venmo. Cash can be counterfeit or can be taken along with the wheels in a robbery.

There is no way for you to know for sure that a Paypal or venmo was tied to debit vs credit card. They could dispute the charge and the processing co could get involved, but I've never heard of it happening. If you're nervous about that just say cash only and make sure you know how to check for counterfeit. IMO the greater risk is getting robbed, that's why meet point should be somewhere there are cameras or preferably a designated safe trade spot. Many smaller municipalities have them right at the police department. Just be smart. No middle of the night stuff.
