Help.. need to mount handsfree support shaft to Ody floor

I need to install a handsfree kit in my Ody. I've been looking at the different mounts available from Panavise. Some other members have installed the bracket that installs to right of the radio. I think that might place the phone too far for hands-reach.

I'm considering mounting the cradle by the right front corner of the driver's seat by the middle tray. Panavise makes a 12 inch long flex shaft that bolts to the floor.

    http://www.panavise.com/f/comm/cell_flexmounts-sp.html

If someone can tell me whether its ok to bolt/screw the shaft base to the floor in that location between the front seats. Those of you who removed the carpet to install sound deadening can help me out. I'm trying to avoid removing the carpet to do this.

    Thanks,
    Serv

How about mounting it on the seat riser, maybe using a simple right angle bracket made from a piece of "angle iron" (or aluminum)?

    Good luck,

Maybe checkout this. It's a cup holder mount:

Another place to look is Arkon.com. They're a bit more expensive, but they offer a wide range of mounts for cellphones and PDAs. One of their steel flex kits can be bolted on to one of the seat bolts: http://www.arkon.com/multimediapdamount.html

Neither of them require removing the carpet.

    Good luck,
    Nestor

    ...or

..if you had the old Sony CD gooseneck from way back like I do,you could bolt it to one of the seat mount bolts.

I've already swaped out the cup holder for an in-dash dvd.

I like the CM88 15" Flexible "Gooseneck" Steel Mounting Pedestal they have for a reasonable $30.00. I'm not sure about how rigid the flex shaft is. The Samsung requires a firm push to lock into the craddle. I'll call Arkon and find out.

    Thanks for the link.
