    Mileage

120,000 km, or 75,000 miles on mine.

I also recorded 26 mpg driving at 75mph in hot July weather with the AC cranked and a full load of family on a trip from Toronto to Windsor.

I've got 85,000 miles on my '98 EX. I've gotten as much as 26 mpg on the highway but typically get around 23 mpg in mixed driving.

    Mine...

My 95 is just shy of 137K miles and on the highway with AC and a full load I get 26-28 mpg doing 70 mph. I have had it for about 15 months now and got it with 120K miles. All I have had to do is get a new radiator and a new ignition switch since I bought it.

    140k on my 95

Robert, why do you get such good mileage? Our's only gets around 19mpg and doesn't seem to go up much on trips.

    Paul...

Do you travel well over 70 mph or do a lot of congested stop and go driving? How many miles do you have on your Ody? The only thing I can tell you is that when I purchased my Ody at 120K miles I made sure to do a full tuneup including changing out ALL fluids, spark plugs, distr. cap, pcv valve, etc. I also adjusted my valves and I use 5W20 Castrol GTX oil. Along with that my mechanic friend looked at it and did some things and told me I had good compression. I only use 87 octane gas and always make sure I have at least 32psi in my tires. I am also a very conservative driver and I live in a fairly small town (35K people). And our in town mpg has never been below 20 mpg. Those are things to think about with your vehicle if you are way past a tune up etc. You might also want to have your compression checked. My theory on the 95-96 Odys is that Honda found out that they were really averaging higher than the original ratings of 20 city and 24 hwy, which is why they were changed for the 97 model to 21 city and 26 hwy. I know of no engine changes for the 97 year, especially not to make the Ody get that much more mileage. Along with that I have noticed that Honda has historically always been quite conservative in their gas mileage estimations and most Hondas seem to get over their estimated mileage, at least in my experience and research. Sorry for the book and I hope this helps.

    Mileage...

    Robert,

we live in a big city and do drive over 70 when we have a chance. Still, we have never gotten over 20-21 ever in the car, which has been a big disappointment for me.

It has a freash air filter, plugs and we change the fluids on schedule. i didn't do a dist cap or pcv valve, but i've never found those to be critical to performance (they're either ok or broken).

any other ideas? i do keep the tires filled too.

My 98 Ody has done around 170,000 Kilometres. Have had it since new, and remain totally satisfied with the purchase.

I still get around 30MPG (10 litres/100 Km) on highway driving at around 65 to 70 MPH (110Kph)

City consumption is not so good but I expect that!

The only thing that has gone wrong so far is the thermostat! The engine temp ran too low - I replaced it myself in 1/2 hr!

I feel as if the rear wheel bearings may be getting a bit noisy - is this a known problem? - At 170,000 K I would not be unhappy about it, but it could just be the tyres (Pirelli P6000)

95 Ody w/112,000miles on it. I get about 20-21mpg with mixed city and highway driving. Here where I live the highway driving is pretty aggressive. So, I guess that's not bad mileage. It will do better if the driving isn't too aggressive or fast. Unfortunately, that's never going to happen here where I live.
