    Tire for 2014

    Hi,

Living here in Ontario. Need to replace my all season tires this spring. I have another set of tire for winter. Which one would you recommend among these three:

General Tire Altimax RT43 - cheaper
Michelin Defender LTX MS - on sale right now at CT
Good Year Comfortred Touring - more expensive

Please feel free to suggest other brand based on your experience. Thanks for any of your comments or suggestions.

Check out Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S plus.. I recently got them on my van and am pretty happy with them so far (~1500 mi). Michelin Premier LTX are the other tires that I considered while researching.
My main aim was to get a quiet ride and both these were good for that based on the reviews I read. Both above are rated for 60-65k miles. In general, it is recommended to change tires every 6-7 years. With my driving, i would hit the time limit before the miles limit. If you drive more, I have seen tires with up to 90k mi rating as well..

In the end, it all boils down to what is important for you (road noise, comfy ride, fuel efficiency, tire mileage rating etc)..

    Thanks for the reply...

If I may ask, why did you choose Pirelli over the Premier? Is it much cheaper during the time you were buying or is it because it is more quiet, comfy ride, fuel efficient, more milegae, etc? And do you 2014 too? Thanks.

I "chatted" with multiple reps on websites (discount tire direct, tire rack) asking for recommendations for the quietest tire with decent fuel economy and Pirellis were almost a unanimous recommendation. Also read up on the www for reviews for both those tires and learnt that they are both great tires and the difference in quality is a wash. In the end chose Pirelli because they were significantly cheaper (~150USD) than the Michelins.

    I drive a 2011 EX-L

I can't comment on those particular tires, bc I haven't driven on them. But I had Bridgestone Dueler HL on the MDX rims on my Ody, and they seemed to be a good balance of price and performance at the time. They did seem to wear down quicker than I expected though. They were quiet when new, but once they got worn down, the road noise became more apparent, but overall, I was satisfied with them.

    Hi cliff,
If you're in the Toronto area, I have a set of 4 wheels, tires, tpms that fit a 2011.
Wheels are original from 2011, tires and tpms purchased in 2016 only used for that summer. Pirelli Scorpion Verde 235/65R17. After that summer, it became my dedicated winter vehicle. Purchased from SimplyTire.
I do a lot of research before I make my purchases.

I put a set of the Goodyear Comfortred on my 2004 Odyssey EX-L in ~2012 and I loved the ride and handling. Traded it in for a 2014 Odyssey so I cannot speak to the ultimate life of this tire.
