    Power steering fluid leaking

I noticed some strange sounds when turning steering when i started driving the van couple of days in the morning. When i checked, power steering fluid was below the min mark, just above the bottom pipe that feeds fluid to the pump. I topped it up and checked again today, the level has gone down, and i see some fresh oil on the floor where car was parked.

Strange thing is, when i removed the engine cover, there was oil on top of engine. Can power steering fluid leak from the pump area and somehow deposit on the top of engine? Or are these two different issues?

High pressure hose leaks can squirt fluid anywhere.

Pretty common on these vans. Pretty easy fix if you have a set of crows foot style line wrenches. I did mine, including a full fluid flush, in about an hour. Found a genuine Honda hose on eBay.

That is a mess! Better address it soon.

The belt can whip up the leaking fluid. It can get everywhere.

actually it was worse than whats visible in the pic, as the pic only shows one edge of engine. i had oil everywhere on top of engine. for now i have cleaned it up and parked the van, as i read somewhere in this forum that its a fire risk.

Yes it can be a fire risk if it gets on the exhaust.
