Hello, just bought an 06 Odyssey with 119,000 miles. I have random misfire codes popping up. I’ve seen a few other forums regarding misfire but none of them are helping me. Typically when I drive and slowly accelerate between 1.4k and 2.0k RPMs, the engine would jerk but still have power. If I press the gas pedal harder I can get past this area without engine hesitation. It would feel like it’s shaking. I also get random misfire codes P0300, P0305, P0306 but I just replaced the spark plugs and checked if the coils are bad. I ran the car and unplugged coils 1,2,3,4, 5, and 6 separately and felt the engine hesitate after unplugging them so it tells me the coil packs are good. When I replaced the spark plugs I didn’t find any oil on ends either so it doesn’t seem to leak any oil. I’m feeling hopeless at figuring this out on my own and need my Odyssey family to help me. One last thing, does anyone else sometimes get worse mpg when they have ECO mode turn on?

    Thanks for any advice.

I assume since you mentioned ECO mode that you have an EX-L or Touring model. These models have the VCM feature which is notorious for causing the issues you describe. This issue is discussed on this forum almost everyday. Honda used to have an extended warranty to cover repairs caused by the VCM. I suggest you search here for VCM topics including VCM “Muzzler” devices. You need to install a VCM Muzzler to stop VCM (ECO mode) from engaging, otherwise your issues will worsen. VCM causes misfires, damaged piston rings, excessive oil consumption, and damaged engine mounts. Hope this helps.

You sir have just saved my engine! Hopefully it’s not too late. I wasn’t too good on googling or knowing what to look for. So thank you again!
