Exclamation Hello from New Zealand - the home of the long white odyssey

    Hi Everyone,

I came across odyclub while I was searchin for parts for my newly aquired 97 RA3 JDM Type L Ody.

Looks like theres a good range of information and crusiy laid back bunch of members here.

Much to my wifes constination I have many mods planned for our Ody, starting with a new set of wheels, stereo upgrade, suspension and all the usual others NOS!!muhahahaaaa

I am looking for a bit of info on the F23A VTEC motor that our ody has in it - HP? Torque? easy mods? drop me a line if you can help me out.

    Cheers!!

Welcome and nice van ! Good to see more and more international members here.
To answer some of your questions,if memory serves me right, the F23A was the engine in the 98-02 Accords here in the USA. About 145-150hp,torque of about 135-up. If you can find some forums on that generation Accord, you may be able to get more info on it.
    Also try Honda-Tech.com .
    Good luck and enjoy !

    Thanks for the welcome Hachiroku,

I found a few more sites Today with the F23A listing some power and torque figures

    Displacement, cc 2253
    Engine model F23A
    Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 150 ps (110.33 kw) / 5600 rpm
    Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 20.8 kg*m (203.98 N*m) / 4700 rpm
    Power density 10.13
Engine type Water cooling serial 4 cylinder SOHC16 valve
Engine information VTEC horizontal ranging belt driving
Fuel system Electrically controlled gasoline injection system (HONDA PGM-FI)
    Turbocharger No
    Fuel type Unleaded regular gasoline
LEV system (Low emission vehicle) No
    Compression ratio 9.3
    Bore, mm 86
    Stroke, mm 97
    Final gear ratio
    Fuel consumption at 10-15 modes, l/100km 9.4

    That was from ... http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/12085/

My Ody has a modded exaust and to my joy I discovered a powerfilter today when I cracked it open to clean or replace the 'stock'filter. So that made my day ... see attachment..

So I gave that a clean and sprayed a bit of K&N filter oil on it.

I checked out some new sound systems today - my ody already has a smattering of Panasonic gear in it - however I found a place specialing some pana. 240w 6 x 9's for $35us So I am tempted to throw this into the back doors then save up for an amp and a couple of Subs.

Finished the day by cleaning the 8mm silicon leads and polishing up the 'H' & HONDA VTECH" castings on the rocker cover, which ended up looking quite nice.

    Later gators!

Another productive day modding the ody...

    Hi Pinody,

I picked up my strut tower brace at a place called Jap Race supplies here in NZ. I am sure you would be able to get them locally over there... the trick is that you can't buy them off the shelf for the Ody,the chassis seems to be about the same size as the accords of the same era so I rocked on down and grabbed the front strut brace labelled accord and tried it out. Sure enough it was a good fit.

Cost $89NZ which equals about $40US.

I checked the OBX website ...
    http://www.obxracingsports.com/perfo...17&subCat2ID=3

    GXH1005-1 Accord 94-97 Front Upper Strut Brace n/a $149.00

Check http://www.obxracingsports.com/distributors.cfm for your nearest dealer..

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

OBX parts are sold in quite a few online stores. They're based in my area of work,South SF but they don't sell out of there. They just distribute to retailers.
