    Clear front reflectors?

Picking up a white Odyssey next week and I really hate the orange reflectors! I've looked long and hard for clear reflectors on ebay and a bunch of parts suppliers with no luck. I plan on having the reflectors wrapped or painted if I cannot find clear ones but would prefer to install a set of clear ones.

Has anyone seen clear front reflectors anywhere?

    Unhappy

Just checking in to see if anyone has seen the clear front reflectors (side markers) anywhere.

I've been searching for them everywhere since I got the van without any luck.

I’m also waiting for them to come out.

iJDMtoy and Depo are two brands that have clear corner lenses for other Honda’s. You could try contacting them and offer to test fit their first production run.

2016-2018 civic looks like a close match. They probably won’t fit properly but you could take them apart with a heat gun, Dremel them to size and swap the clear lenses over to the odyssey housing.

I guess our Odyssey is for American market so it will be hard to find the replacement clear side reflectors. In Japan the model is different.

I'd buy a clear set if they become available. Probably still put an amber light inside though.

This is true per federal safety standards (it's called an "amber reflex reflector"). The amber side marker serves the function of both illumination and reflector.

Most states reference the federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) in their state vehicle codes & statutes, ergo, an amber reflex reflector is then a required item on the checklist for a safety inspection (or something a motor officer might notice).

Just because somebody sells clear replacement bits that fit doesn't mean they're legal for road use. I'll admit they do look pretty snazzy on a show vehicle, though.

I have not been able to find them anywhere, still very interested!

I'm pretty sure it is a safety standard thing in Ontario Canada as well. I hope the police have better ways to serve and protect the community then ticketing me for not having two tiny orange pieces of plastic on my gigantic car that you can see on the road from a mile away.

These items help the vehicle "pop into view" during dusk/dawn lighting conditions while approaching the vehicle from an offset angle (anywhere from just off the longitudinal axis to perpendicular). That's why they're required.

I hear you, but when it comes down to it, you pays your moneys, you takes your chances. If you get stopped, saying "I hope the police have better ways to serve and protect...." won't get you any traction in squirming out of a ticket.

However, those items do look attractive.

I was thinking of the tinted vinyl over the sidemarkers as well. Did you do it yourself?

No, very easy. One screw and one push in clip to pull back the mud covers. Afterwards the reflectornis held in place with two push in clips one on each side.
