What did you learn or discover about your Odyssey today?

I've enjoyed similar threads on other car forums, and found it really helpful in discovering features about my cars that I did not know existed.
The goal is to share a running list of new things owners learned or discovered about their cars. Good or bad. Big or small.

To get the ball rolling, here are a few observations based on my family's recent 3+K mile road trip in our MY'19 Elite:
    1. I finally found a way to disable AC in the gen5 Odyssey (was a dedicated hardware button on gen3 Ody's, but no more), and that setting is preserved through multiple ignition on/off cycles! That is really helpful when you are driving with the windows down and/or sunroof open in 60-70F weather in FL. Hit "Front Climate" physical button below nav screen, touch "AC" software button and it will toggle between "on" and "off" states. Done.
    2. RES is a life-saver on longer trips, as long as you bring along a large library of DVDs. When kids start using RES, you have to start playing some other audio stream (radio, etc) in parallel, else the car will pipe DVD sounds through the speakers. You can later turn your audio off, and DVD sounds will not resume, but you do need to take action to avoid listening to RES sounds. Minor annoyance.
    3. "Walk away auto lock" is not compatible with family road trips. You stop at a gas station, go to the bathroom, come out to the car alarm blaring because car auto-locked itself with someone in the car, and then the motion detector triggered the alarm. I quickly learned how to disable it (main nav screen -> Settings).

After 8 years of owning a odyssey. I just discovered that if you'd like to disable the daytime running lights when the vehicle is in park. Just press the emergency brake, and start the engine. It's very helpful where I live . I live on a block with 300+ families and parking spaces for just 30 . So I can sit in my van without people asking me if I'm leaving my spot.

I also just discovered that on the rear of the driver's and front passenger seat there's 2 pockets. 1 regular like the older models, and 1 smaller one that's just behind the headrest. 2019 Elite models. Not sure about the others

'18 Elite has it too. Nice touch!

Also thanks for the heads-up about the DRL. I happened to be sitting in the parked van while reading this and gave it a try. Sure enough it works .

Dang Jackstar that is good info as I was wondering about that. Why can't they provide an on off option and be done with it? I will give it a try with my new LX. Thanks.

I learned that I don't really need the automatic side door functionality on my 2011 Odyssey. The door cable got bound up in the motor because the sheathing caused all kinds of issues. I removed the motor (in the hopes that I will fix it one day) and the kids (11,10,7) can open and close the door fairly easily.

They come with the RES option so if you have an EX-L w/ RES or a Touring/Elite which come with RES standard, then you'll get the upper seat back pockets. They're intended for RES headphone and remote storage.

I found that it tells you when the fuel door is open. Pretty cool.

BTW, Looking at the last pic, am I the only one who is a bit annoyed of the 000385 miles readout? Who needs those leading zeros? it makes it more cumbersome to read at a glance. It's a Honda stupidity on all their models.

Iv recently learned from a thread here. That auto high beam will only activate above 44MPH. I know its in the manual but many don't know about it
