  1. Retrofitting 2001 Odyssey with Roof Rails

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
2001 LX, does have power locks. No power doors, but that is a "plus", when you have to "replace" the "rollers", on the sliding doors. (Easy, $5, repair, if you check out posts on this forum). Van has lot's of room in the back. You may find you do not need a roof rack. :)
  2. Adding A Little Old-ish Gas To An Almost Full Tank

    2005 - 2010 Odyssey
If it were me. For the $ involved & potential risk, I would find a local, "gardener", or neighbor, and say. "Free" gas for your lawn mover.
  3. Help with new tires I just purchased..

    2011 - 2017 Odyssey
Purchased the same defender for my 2001, at Costco, a few months ago. No issues. Van rides quieter. Best tires I"ve ever had on my van.
  4. Honda makes serious $$$ on parts

    2005 - 2010 Odyssey
Still drive my old 2001. OP, Were you serious, engine mounts cost $1000 each.? Before labor. How many mounts are there on the new odysseys?
  5. Oil Pan Replacement - What to prepare for?

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
Is the "oil drain place" doing the work. (or would they let you get a few outside estimates for the work). Would be nice if you could have your own mechanic, or Dealer do the work. And have the "drain" place pay for it. Good luck.
  6. 2001 odyssey LX 310,700 miles

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
Interesting. Original owner, 2001 LX. 214,000 miles. On 4th transmission. Tranny's 1 and 2, failed in the 40K miles range. Tranny 3, lasted a little over 50K. 4th tranny, currently has about 60K miles. On 4th tranny, I installed "magnifine" in line filter, and do a drain and fill every 7-8 K...
  7. HELP - 08 Ody CEL Flashing

    2005 - 2010 Odyssey
Thanks for keeping us updated. From your description, it sounded like your cats were bad (lack of power). Your recommended mechanic, seems honest. (upon inspection, valves did not need adj.). So he moved on to the next step..... Have 2001, original owner, 214,000 miles. No valve adj. original...
  8. Removing Spark Plug #2

    2011 - 2017 Odyssey
Great pictures. I like your problem solving skills. Oh, did you purchase OEM coils, or the "cheapo" ones I've seen on Amazon. (if so, would be curious, how long they last). :)
  9. Power steering nut not tightening

    2005 - 2010 Odyssey
  10. 2011 - How much longer?

    2011 - 2017 Odyssey
2001, 213,000 miles. 4th tranny. Original alternator. (seems new odysseys alternators don't last as long). Old van so no VCM. Friend went 330,000 miles on 2000. 3rd tranny. Engines seem to be pretty reliable.
  11. Rear-end Collision Damage and Questions

    2011 - 2017 Odyssey
You should have received an estimate from the body shop, prior to work being started.
  12. 2004 Odyssey-Trans Rebuild/Installing Rebuilt Trans question

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
Of course if broken, connector, is the cause. The mechanic should repair at no cost. To clarify. In my case. There is a male portion and a female portion. The "connector". This got broken when removing the tranny. This is NOT rocket science. Just has to be "re-attached". The 2 pieces...
  13. 2004 Odyssey-Trans Rebuild/Installing Rebuilt Trans question

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
OH, I just remembered. Here is the way it works. When the van is driving slowly, ie. parking, slow turns, etc. The computer, TELLS the engine to speed up slightly, to increase the power steering assist. So the wire leaves the wiring harness, but I forget where it goes. But it controls the...
  14. 2004 Odyssey-Trans Rebuild/Installing Rebuilt Trans question

    1999 - 2004 Odyssey
2001. On 4th rebuilt tranny. This happened on #3. When removing the tranny, Mechanic, "broke" the connector" from the "wire harness" (big bundle of wires, that go all over the engine compartment). The connector goes to a "switch", that controls the power steering. This switch, "tells" the power...
  15. Power steering nut not tightening

    2005 - 2010 Odyssey
Or maybe, the original "washer" is in the "hole". ie. you have 2 washers instead of 1. Hope this makes sense. (like when changing oil filter, always be sure oil washer is still attached to your used oil filter). Good luck.
