Hey guys, I have a 02 Odyssey , it has a stutter at idle, say around 800 rpm,
If I raise the rpm to around 1000 it goes away..
I know its hard to describe a nose with words, but it seams to stutter 3 or 4 times in a fast pattern, kinda like duh duh duh / duh duh duh / duh duh duh.. and so on .
Just a shot in the dark, but anyone have any idea what it could be ?
I changed the plugs around a year ago. ran some injector cleaner through 6 or 8 months ago.
Thanks guys ..
Mark

odyvanman, thanks for the help, no i dont think any lights are on, its my wifes van, but ill make sure as soon as she get home.
im not sure how to test the coil,
curious, why you would suspect the rear middle coil ?
Thanks again ...

You unplug one at a time, if the idle changes then most likely that one is working. No change in idle would mean it's bad. The middle one in the back seems to be a hot area for these engines, little air movement so possibly more failures.

My van also has a bit of stumble on idle but nothing under load. I've read clogged EGR passages may also do this and maybe valves that need adjusting. I've yet to try chasing it further because it's just a slight nuisance right now.

Thanks for the explanation, makes since, and easy enough to check..

Start with EGR check. Try revving it up to around 3k-4k and let it drop. If it dies or very close to. Very likely the EGR valve.

Thanks gregersonke, ill try that tonight and report back ..
Cheers .

This check usually only works when the EGR valve is in a failing stage. They can slowly die off being hit and miss. But when it's stuttering like that try the check. if it kills the motor you know pretty much that the problem relates to the EGR( either the valve or the port being clogged in the intake manifold portion.

I ran a bottle of injector cleaner through it a wile back.
Ill check the coils this weekend, and if nothing there, Ill run some more cleaner through it..
Is this how to clean the throttle body and Idle control valve pappy ?

GET foxwell 510 for honda go to mis-fire PID's monitor which one is mis-firing, once you identify. inspect coil, plug or injector easies one to check is plug, if your plug is looking good then swap the coil. if still did not correct the issue then you know injector is the culprit.
