OEM Tires on New 2015 EX-L

I went to the dealership to pickup our brand new 2015 EX-L Odyssey and noticed the tires were not Michelin brand. They were Continental tires. Never heard of Continental tires and was a bit surprised since all other Odysseys I had looked at had Michelin tires. The sales manager said it was 60/40 in terms of the # of Odysseys sold with Michelin/Continental tires. I wasn't buying that so we didn't purchase the van.

Can anyone tell me if 2015 Odysseys come with Continental tires? They said they could switch out the tires (rims and all) with another van but I told them I needed to sleep on it.

I have a 2012 ex-l and it has continental tires. I believe the higher trims have Michelin.

My 2013 TE came with the michelins but my father in laws EX-L had conti's. The touring and TE come with Michelins.

I have Continental , and it is great. It works best in snow and rain.

LX and EX-L models comes with Continentals.
EX, EX-L Nav, EX-L-RES, Touring and Touring Elite come with Michelins.
I think it's based on sales volume to balance out the mix. I don't think the EX trim always came with Michelins. I think that was a running change for 2014.
When I bought my 2014 EX-L, the dealer swapped out the Contis for a set of Michelins off an EX.

We have continentals on or new EX-L. I also expected Michelin and it was more than a week before I realized what they were. However, so far they are smooth and quiet if you are careful in keeping the cold pressure at no higher than 33psi, the recommended pressure. Wet performance is also good. Appears to be a good tire.

Our '13 EX is still wearing it's factory Continental's. I have not complaints with them, but I don't run them in the winter (we have Blizzaks on a second set of wheels).

I do have to agree with 1saxman about keeping cold tire pressure at specified 33 psi. I have a tendency to run my tires a couple psi high in my vehicles (for increased MPG), and did not like the ride on these Continentals when doing so. I'm back to running at specified psi.

If you decide on swapping make sure they swap with the same trim as the one you are buying as the wheels are different in between the trims.
Also i am a fan of Michelins and have had them on all my Odysseys and am extremely pleased with them.

When I bought my 2014 EX-L, the dealer swapped out the Contis for a set of Michelins off an EX.

The dealer was going to do the same for me. There isn't a problem doing this?

I would guess that the vast majority of buyers pay no attention to what brand is on the van they buy. If the dealer agreed, there should be no problem. Just make sure they also switch the tire warranty booklet in the glovebox to the proper brand of tire.

My Canadian 2014 EX had the Michelins while my friend's 11 EX had the Continentals.

I would be careful about swapping for just any Michelin. If the dealer is offering Primacy MXM4s to swap for Conti ProContacts that would be a good thing. But just any Michelin deserves closer scrutiny. The ProContact doesn't stand out in any one area but it is a solid performer in all and comes off second only to the MXM4s compared to other tires in the class.
Continental Tires have been around forever in Europe and bought General Tire sometime in the 80s to facilitate entry into the US market. Note that some models of the General brand are now awesome tires.

Our EX-L w/RES that we just bought came with Michelins. That was one of the factors before buying it from the dealer. I am a fan of Michelins and Bridgestones that I have had so far.

Our EX-L w/RES purchased last week also came with Michelins. I think its probably more a factor of when the vehicle came off the assembly line rather than trim level etc. The manufacturers make huge bulk orders of tires from the tire manufacturers, so its probably a function of which tire manufacturer was giving the best deal when Honda needed to buy tires.

The 2011+ Odyssey OEM tires are both the Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Continental ContiProContact. I've seen them vary in application among the models I've seen on the road. I thought the higher end trims (Touring and above) received the Michelins, but was surprised to see them on some EX models. As someone said, since most customers don't care, I really don't think the factory cares: whatever is available at the time.

That said, the ContiProContact has been lauded as pretty decent. Ours developed really significant tire rot by 27,000 miles. I've since replaced them with Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring.
