The new Honda's have 10,000 mile oil change intervals, using 0-20 oil if I remember correctly.

What 10K?
you mean change oil after every 10K

but if you go to any dealer or walmart they say you need to change after every 3k.
and that is what i have been doing, If I am lazy or busy at times I get it changed after 4K

IF some one read in a manual that we need to change after every 10K let me know.

And Wal Mart knows whats best for your car? There are many variables that enter in to how long you can go between oil changes. The engines today with computer control can go much longer between oil changes than the old carb engines and their excess gas usage. Wal Mart is protecting their bottom line as is most advertising you see today. Separating marketing and realism is impossible today.......

The owners manual of the 2002 CRV I purchased stated that 10,000 miles is suitable for a standard oil change interval. My 95' and 98' Odyssey's are much lower.

I have a 1994 VW Golf that says to change the oil every 7500 miles...

I don't get it...after 3000 the oil looks Jet Black! I'll never go more than 3000 between oil changes.

fwiw, color is what I used to determine the interval on my 528i, and will use on the Ody. If it looks pretty nice @2500 mi, I'll push up 500 mi, untill I get one that looks noticably crappy. NOT black, just crappy. Back it down 500 mi again, and feel safe that I've found the interval for that particular engine that doesn't have me at the mechanic more often than necessary. My Civic likes 4500, my Accord 4000. They have 218K / 201K miles on them.
